  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

I find it very entertaining that everyone keeps commenting on the smell of the camera coming out of the box.

Also, #695. So there are at least ~700 in existence, yeah?
Looks like it! It was weird to have one at #132, and one at #695. Dont you think? I took 132 and 695 is for my partners! haha!

I seriously doubt the serial number has any significance in terms of the order it comes out the assembly meaning the highest serial number in the wild does not indicate the total number of completed Scarlet.
I'm not sure about this. If they were doing random serial numbers I believe that would be using the 2 digits that are Zeros. (00)132. So it would make sense that they do come off assembly in numerical order, they may not get shipped or allocated that way though. I love how we care so much about the little details like that! (that dont matter in the slightest but goes to show the passion RED followers have!)

There are still a million orders ahead of me but I have all my accessories (just arrived today minus the side handle). Its killing me to look at them and not be able to hook them up to a camera and shoot something...

I'm thinking the serial numbers go into assembly in order but doesn't necessarily come out in that fashion. Maybe each camera takes varying time to get assembled. Or perhaps some of them get held up for whatever reason.

In your case, it was definitely very odd to have two cameras in same order with serial numbers that far apart. Maybe someone with low SO# cancelled their order...?

Yeah, maybe building the units minus some part that is backordered. Put on the shelf until the part comes in. When backordered part comes in, pull a Scarlet off the shelf, install part, ship.

@ Jeremiah; we do obsess. Congrats on your new arrival.

Haha a million. Good one. Theres more like probably only a few hundred in front of you. But I feel your pain about having some accessories but no camera. Our time will come soon.

Collecting my Scarlet tomorrow from RED Europe, very exciting but no idea which number it will have.

Ordered Scarlet Canon AI mount package, 4 additional batteries, 4 x 64 GB cards, on back order are the side handle and red mote, all other items in stock.

Awesome! Congrats. The next 24 hours is probably going to be the longest of your life lol. Can't wait to see some shots!

Thanks, great times ahead, will post footage asap, though restricted to power supply as no side handle as yet, but looking into running camera on location from my car using 12DC to AC adapter will run this past tech guys tomorrow to make sure its ok.

Thanks to people all those very kind people posting R3D files with actual footage not just stills, this enabled me to playing around with footage on PPr. It's so straight forward to import and can get full playback on 4k files at 1/4 res for edit then when ready just render, then out as a pro res 442 or 444 files as easy as 123. This is on an iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB ram, faster than my tower, it's running a Promise 12 TB thunderbolt drive as far not missed a beat.

When I see how low serials are still running I can't help but fear I might die of an unknown disease or sudden heart failure before my Scarlet gets here...:-(

>> "Old age or unknown disease"

I'm really not sure how to read the order #s... my SO# is something like 54,000. Ordered on the 11th of November. That can't be right, can it?

Lose the comma. :-) The order number looks something like SO-005XXXX. Looks like yours might be SO-0054000?
