I'm looking for an eye cup, whatever it is made of, that would show a side extension ("oval" eye cup ?) so to block side light (which can be terribly boring). Any suggestion much appreciated.

One solution: Bluestar Viewfinder Eyecushions.
Size = "Large Round"
(The large round works blocking sidelight - it adds 3/4" to the overall diameter --- aka the RED EVF rubber eyecup = 2.5" across. Add the eyecushion = 3.25" across).
They also make a large oval, but I have not yet tried that on a RED EVF.
I used to use a different sized oval on the 2/3" camera viewfinders - believe those were one size smaller - but that was a while back.

Besides blocking light, another benefit: far more comfortable.
Most of the time, I use the standard Chamois Leather. Also available: fleece covered (better in the winter).
