  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Best way to go from RCXP to FCP and then back?

Anyone?

i've been able to successfully go from RCXP to FCP with the lower res files and edit away, but when i send it back to RCXP theres no audio.

So i'm guessing i CANT put a song in my project and other stuff and have that all show up in RCXP, do my color grading and then export from there?

Will i just have to color grade my footage first and then do the final export from FCP? That seems weird to me, i always do my color grading after i edit...

Hi Nick,

Currently the XML does not track audio. I'd like to change this but no time at the moment. You can attach audio per clip in RCX and have it remember in the RMD file, but that's about as much
as you can do currently.

Cheers,
David

does this audio have to be a certain format? like .WAV or something? This is an odd situation for this one time but i have a .aiff file for audio on one clip.

Does this seem to be the best process if you want to color grade in RCXP? Is it a good idea to do my final export straight out of RCXP?

Thanks for your help

Hi Nick,

Yes, they need to BWF wave files. As for whether it's a good idea or not, that depends on your workflow and what you are trying to achieve. I'd try it, but also seek advice from others who have experience going back and forth to FCP. You can also call support if you want and get in touch with our workflow guys here.

Cheers,
David
