I would like to get a handle grip system like the Allstar (http://allstar-cine.myweb.hinet.net/html/shoulder_rings/Tbar.htm) using the T-handle bar and extensions. There's 2 issues I'm coming across. The 15mm rod clamp they have is LWS 100mm spacing and I prefer the LW 60mm spacing. The other is that the rosettes match the old Red rosettes and not the new Red rosettes. Is anyone aware of any handle grip system similar to the Allstar, with extension arms, that match the new Red rosettes? I would actually consider make my own handle grip system with Red's parts, but there's no extensions and I'd like to get the grips lower for comfort and handling the weight for longer periods of time.

I know there's the Element Technica Mantis, but I want the handle grips to be separate from the shoulder pad and also want the handles to be adjusted solely with rosettes and that uses a rod bar.

There's also the Red Front Handle Assembly 19mm (http://www.red.com/store/rail-components/product/dsmc-front-handle-assembly-19mmnn), which is actually nearly perfect (and I could make a custom version in 15mm), but it's much more expensive.

What we are using is the Allstar 8 inch divetail and shoulder mount with a 19mm rod adaptor on the front and two short 19mm bars. We have seperate handles fitted to the 19mm bars that are movable forwards and back wards on the rods, these use Arri rossets but if you used the Red grips then this would work fine. The camera sits on its base plate using 19mm bars or i your case 15mm 60mm spacing bars on the rig, it then can be taken off in sectons to put on a tripod if needed. I know the Ronford moose bars use 15mm spacing so I think you could use those on 15mm bars if you wanted to fit those to the front of an Allstar rig.

I like the vocas moose handles. Under 1 pound. They work on 15mm or 19mm Rods. I believe 60mm spacing on the 15mm Rods. Nice leather grips. Alas… no/on off switch. I got the 15/19 support bracket and 2 handles for around $700 from Able. Here's the site: http://www.vocas.com/kits/handheld-kit-pro-underneath

There ought to be a law that weights are listed with all hand-held accessories.

Just found this device, I dont know it or have seen one for real but looks promising.

Both of those solutions have each individual arm attaching to a rod with a rod clamp. I'm trying to avoid that because I've found that under enough weight or force the arms could still move. If you use something like the Allstar T-handle bar or the Red Front Handle Assembly all arm attachment points are via rosettes, which you don't have to worry about moving out of position. Yes the main assembly attaches via rods, but it's all one complete assembly that attaches to both rods at the same time.

I see it's not a tool-less design. It looks like you'd have to use an allen wrench to mount and unmount it. Though I wonder if those screws could be replaced with some kind thumbscrew. Also, the handle bars don't look very adjustable and no extension arms. Just one axis. And are those rosettes compatible with Red?

So it looks like I have to choose between the Allstar and the Red. It's about $900 more for the Red. Has anyone used both?

I do like the idea of possibly being able to add Red rosettes to other mounting points on the rig via tactical cage sides, the accessory attachment bracket, and/or the rosette block. How's the quality of both, especially the Allstar. Will they last a long time?
