Can anyone tell me why RED is shipping accessories first for some people, before their bodies in the package are delivered? I don't want to be charged for accessories prior to receiving a Scarlet body, especially not if it's going to stay on my credit card.

Is this a voluntary shipment that the customer has requested?

i specifically requested to get all of my accessories first. At least that way when i get my brain (which im sure will be last to get here) I can literally shoot as soon as fedex rings my bell.

Oh, OK. Good to hear. Makes sense.

Did the same thing....Dont want things to go to backorder waiting for the body.

But now I've been hanging out with 10 redvolts, a Red Mag, and a 4 pack of SSDs...they have kinda lost there luster over the past month...though :)

I did my accessory order separate from the brain to ensure that I'm not stuck with a brain that can't shoot anything. Given the high demand for all things Red right now (with Scarlet and Epic really ramping up), it is probably a poor decision to hold off on taking delivery of any of the various bits of kit you need.

We didn't order our accessories separately, or specify which to be shipped first, and we will be receiving our Touch LCD probably tomorrow with no Scarlet body. Whatever works I guess! I'm just happy to receive something... and you're right, at least now we know once we get the Scarlet we'll be able to start shooting right away. I guess it's a good sign either way. We have the money set aside for the purchase, and I would assume most people do as well.

Doesn't it mean paying a lot more for multiple shipping as opposed to one single shipping cost?

If I understand correctly from my BSRep, each item has its own shipping charge if you get it all in one box or in multiple shipments. I too have tried to consolidate the orders so that I can save as much as possible, (so I can buy more gear)

I also, am receiving as much as I can when I can, so nothing slips into backorder. So my Scarlet kit's LCD, battery, SSDs etc (minus the side handle, which is back ordered) are all in shipment now.

Hope to time the 5 day shipping and then an 2nd daying the Scarlet brain so it all arrives about the same time with the least shipping cost.

+1... Got tons of batteries and memory, along with a lot of cool stuff from Wooden Camera just lying around looking lonely!

I feel for ya man, same here. Are you within the US though, or overseas? I think shipping works differently between domestic and international.

...I think shipping works differently between domestic and international...

Sean, here's an example of the sort of charges you can expect to pay per delivery to Aus, on top of whatever the actual shipping rate charged by RED is.

"CUSTOMS DUTY - $6.13(AUD)
IMPORT DEC N10 AIR CHARGE (GOODS VALUE > $1000) - $40.20(AUD)
GST ("ON IMPORTATIONS") - $xxxx(AUD)
WET - $0.00(AUD)
AQIS − ENTRY CHARGES AIR - $15.00(AUD)"

Approx $60-70(AUD). So it probably is cheaper to limit the amount of separate deliveries and avoid paying those entry fees each time.

Not sure if there are any other differences between domestic and international (Fedex)shipments.

Les, I did a rough calculation and very generally speaking taking Customs duties and taxes into account, Australia charges approximately 16% total on top of your total purchase including shipping.

Could be right, but if the GST is 10%, and 'Customs Duty', 'Import Dec N10 Air Charge' and 'AQIS Entry Charges' are set at what I understand to be a flat(ish) rate, the value of the goods purchased would determine if those charges and duties would add up to another 6% (to total 16% of purchase price), if you know what I mean.

Anyway, not sure an international forum is an appropriate place to be discussing our regional issues. Shipping is expensive, currency fluctuations can be deal-breakers, currency conversion fees are a crime...but some things are worth it.:smile5:

Im assuming you don't mean "literally," a word that is taking some abuse ately.
