  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

Yes they keep the price but then they add:

- UK VAT 20%
- CUSTOMS FEES
- HANDLING FEES
- SHIPPING FEES
- 2% FEES IF PAID BY CREDIT CARD

then you add the DOLLARS-POUND-EURO Change and therefore you get nothing compare to the announced price at red.com

Not looking very likely at this stage. It doesn't look like some of the 300 who were present at the event will get theirs either (judging by how slow it progressed in the list), much less the rest of us.

@Jeffrey: PL Mount, not at the event but ordered 40min after announcement

@Sam: Yes not the same price at all. Cannot give the real final price as I don't have any payment receipt and there is many accessories in my order ...
But I'll keep you inform as soon as I have info

The only I can tell you is they are not sure to deliver before christmas ... we'll see if someone in Europe will get the Scarlet before Christmas
 
I added my order to the list. I placed the deposit on the last day that anyone who went to the event (the 300) could effectively place an order and still be on the priority list (RED sent me an email beforehand letting me know they had me on the list of attendance but hadn't seen my order, and I would need to place the order by the 15th to hold my spot). I placed the order, confirmed it with my rep that I'm on the priority list, and have all the funds in my RED account.

The reason that I'm letting you guys know is; I'm probably the last one of the 300 who ordered the Canon mount package. So, when mine ships that should be the end of the priority list.

This hill is getting even longer to climb as we wait. I don't feel any closer to the Scarlet than I did 3 months ago haha. Good thing this is kind of teaching me patience.

edit: Another note, it seems like they're getting them out to people with blogs that can give insight as well. Cinema5D appears to be one of the first in Europe. Very cool to get reviews from those who update regularly...

Just got an email from RED....only to find out it was for the Epic. :/ Back to sound proofing the studio
 
I actually think that stage 4 email is a positive, it means things are moving, Epic X is now available to everyone so things are progressing backlogs are being cleared, right?

Your right ;) I think RED is transitioning out of a startup. They are now up with the big boys ... I hope they can keep their community based, innovative approach and executive involvement, yet get canon/b&h type of service going. That's a hat trick though. From those of us coming from canon camera's and b&h type of service, RED is a bit of a shock ... but I think will be worth it ... atleast for those moving from shorts and corporate work, to features.

Yep, it got me too. Then again so did the Christmas one. Doh.

The stage 4 e-mail is a bit of hope. Not gonna see anything for Christmas, but seeing another canon mount being posted is progress.
 
By the way I noticed something a little interesting on the list. Someone was allocated on the 13th and is physically picking it up on the 23rd. That means even if you had overnight shipping it wouldn't have come until the 24th. That means a 10 day about lead time from allocation to delivery. So seeing as non-event, non-press Al mounts aren't going out... now. It's already past Christmas. And since I hope RED isn't working their elves Christmas Eve/Christmas. Realistically we're 5 days out from New Years too.

Or, maybe 200 AL scarlets will go out tomorrow. :D

With that math it make sense why we should see a December backorder update tomorrow...........
Im getting more sad about my Scarlet everyday.
