Am trying to decide. If u could have just 1 handle on your epic besides the dance side handle, would you go with the outrigger handle or the sliding top handle? I am curious for several reasons. Which is more practical in the most siduations?

Sliding top handle for sure. You do not want a setup without it. To me, the top handle is like one of the must-haves for every EPIC / SCARLET setup...

With a tactical top plate (or similar) you can relocate the nato rail to the side and hence mount the sliding top handle as an equivalent to the outrigger. The outrigger is nice, but not as flexible.

Definitely top handle. With jus the side handle you end up carrying the camera side ways when walking around with it, at it will swing like pendulum. The top handle makes it a lot easier to just carry the camera around and it opens up low angle shooting and such. And like above you can always make the top handle a side handle. I had only the outrigger for a while and once I got my top handle was much happier.

Thanks a lot guys :) I think I am gonna go with the top handle first.

Hey Guys, So, I have my RED One top handle extension and top handle. What parts of these will I be able to use with my EPIC?

I thought I read somewhere that my RED One top handle parts would be usable in some fashion. Can anyone with an EPIC confirm? Usability as well if so?

Alan, yes the Red top handle works fine on the Epic --well, that is with a top plate, either Red's, VF's, or Wooden Camera's. It may work without any top plate, but I highly recommend having one.

Thanks again for all the advice :) went with the sliding top handle this morning :) Shoot went great and I can't imagine using the camera without it.
