  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yes. I received mine on Friday. The irony is that the Red bottom plate (Modular Assault Plate), which I ordered August 22, 2011, still has not arrived, nor can my Bomb rep tell me when it will arrive. I ordered the tactical top plate is so I could use the Red ribs/cage and Assault Plate with the Red Quick Release system. I already have a VF top plate, which I ordered before Red announced theirs. The VF top plate is really nice. It just doesn't work with Red's cage/QR system. If you are interested, it will be for sale soon.

Same on the assault modular plate...we've been waiting for it since it was first announced... I always thought the modular assault plate was an important piece for the lightweight Epic concept but it has not been available for months now. We have the DCMS quick release system but can't use it until we get the bottom plate! (kinda like we've had redvolts for almost three months but can't use them either). I am just thankful there has been some third party suppliers like Wooden camera and Viewfactor that helped us make the Epic more usable. Yeah, yeah I know it has been said things will be better by February (I truly hope it's true)....but no offense I won't believe it until I see it! It's gotten to a point where we try not to rely on RED anymore for any accessories unless we have no choice (like canon mount and side handle)....

I would also love to know where the full cage kits are in release. I am waiting on the entire cage for scarlet, not sure if the top plate single would be included in this estimate, though I assume it would as they are the same plate.

Same here, no assault modular plate... It's surprising because the quick release plate seems to be much more complicated to make, and this one wasn't back-ordered.... Also waiting for the top plate... Anyway, at least I have the camera, the rest can wait a bit longer ;)

Based on my experience with manufacturing, the assault modular plates definitely look a bit simpler to make than the quick release plates (which are a work of art btw), but I would imagine it is a just a form of other things being produced first and maybe they don't have the CNC machines to get them finished (assuming they are machined).

The other idea is that they are producing them and possibly sending them daily, but just can't keep up with orders. I believe it was Jarred or Brent that mentioned just because something shows backordered it doesn't mean it isn't shipping to some on a daily basis. I am anxiously awaiting some things too and it is getting a bit annoying as it seems RED offers maybe a bit to many products which they can't keep up with. Lets hope the backorder case gets straightened out in Feb, which is really just around the corner.
 
Got my BS email regarding my top plate being ready last Monday and as of last Friday, no shipping notices still. I would have got the Wooden Camera a long time ago if it was not for the compatibility with the rest of the ribs and cage. My BS rep told me my order was still being processed into shipping.
At least my BS rep (Brian W) is fast on replying to my emails but still , I have no clue when to expect that top plate ordered on oct. 20th.
 
Ill try and give you guys another major backorder update at the end of this week... too many balls in the air right now to give anything accurate.
 
All I need is either a sidehandle or a Redmote . I tried to order the sidehandle in April when I first shot Epic and realized it can't handle EVF & Touchscreen at the same time (still puzzling me as to why??? Biggest mistake EVER). I was told by my trusty Bomb rep I can't order until I have a camera in hand. When I had camera in hand I was told its been open for orders without camera for a couple of weeks (I do try to pay attention but I do work for a living and have kids and wife) . Alsas I'm without Redmote (put deposit down for stage 2 some almost 2years ago...) or sidehandle and have the touchscreen as my sole way of controlling my camera settings. Can't wait until that's over. Tired of hearing excuses.

there is a module for that (i know, i know, coming)... not a mistake, just not everyone needs 2 monitors and to keep the epic the smallest possible for those that don't, it could only have one monitor output on the brain. Just add a module.. and your off to the races.. and its still smaller than any other 4k camera out there :)

As many people tell us to add more ports to the brain there is an equal number of people that wish there were none of the existing ones on the bottom back.

What about the Lemo FGG.0B.304.CLAD42Z 12V output? That is coming on the I/O module right?

Will this include an update on the Pro I/O Module?

I think a lot of people here would like to at least know what I/O options will be included in the module, and when it might actually be available to order.

The thing I would most like to know about is Dual Battery Module. More specifically, when I can press the "take my money" button on that one.

Eagerly waiting for the new update.

Thanks Jarred, that would be great. Could this possibly include status on Scarlet-X PL bodies ?:D You know, just wondering..it was worth a try.

Yes it makes sense to keep small configurations possible, good point.
It's just major league annoying to have to keep a 2nd party onboard and the touchscreen onboard mounted alongside the EVF on an already crowded small body and have to switch cables to the onboard every time I want to change frame rate, color temperature, etc. Plus it's very scary to have only one option to control the camera available on set, what if the onboard breaks? I'm sure these pains will be over reasonably soon... Send me my Redmote or Sidehandle already ;)

Otherwise camera is AMAZING.
 
Its quite possible to customise your user keys so you can operate the menus with only the EVF and side SSD module. PM me your address and I'll send you a preset file to use if you like.
