Has anyone had FedEx deliver their RED order to a wrong address? If so, how did that get resolved for you?

I had an order of four 64GB SSD cards plus a RED Station SSD reader ($3,500 order) get delivered somewhere in my town today but definitely not to my address. I've contacted my bombsquad rep and FedEx about it and trust they will do everything that they can for me - but I'm wondering about anyone else's experiences if that sort of thing has happened to anyone. I'm considering calling my credit card company and asking their advice in the situation too...

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Sadly a bunch of times. You should be able to get the address that they delivered to from the tracking number. Then I'd just drive over there. I had to do that with a case of superspeeds once. Really, really, annoying I hate fedex.

The funny thing is that FedEx states that they delivered the package to my address - it's just they didn't actually do that. They told me to follow up with them on Monday night.

Someone did sign for the package but without an address to drive to, I'm at a loss. I actually drove up and down my street to see if there were any house numbers that matched on the opposing street. I'm at 1200 North of my street and the South end only goes up to 300...

I googled the person's last name along with my zip code to see if I could find a street address but didn't have any luck.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out. :)

I just got an e-mail from my bombsquad rep. They're already working on getting it straightened out. RED is such a tremendous company. I'm thankful for them, their products, and their people every day.

Thumbs up!!!

Mitch, wasn't fed ex but once had a courier go to the wrong address.

In the end I was able to speak to actual person who delivered the package and had them describe the house, which was nothing like mine.

Figured out they delivered to 132 instead of 123. Dislexic couriers, what will they think of next?

Best of luck.

You can pick up your packages at the local distribution center. Always works for me and it can work for you too.

I have had fedex deliver a package addressed to me, to a neighbor over a block away. They swore up and down it was delivered to my house and even had my neighbor sign for it. A couple of days later the neighbor called me and said they had a package for me. I don't mind someone making a mistake but when they insist they are not at fault that is when I take exception. About 10 years ago fedex lost a $12,000.00 set of sticks I owned. They found them 10 months later. I could go on...

In other news I accidentally gave a company my home address instead of my work address (expecting they would ask for it later in the process) but I emailed DHL and they happily slapped a new label on it... in mid transit! So props to them for that.

Southwest cargo gave me $250,000 worth of lenses that were in a case that matched the rest of mine.. the guy didn't even count the cases..

.......... Yes I gave them back

In the future, have the sender check the "insured value" for the appropriate amount on the FedEx form down in the bottom right area. When we send out program tapes to the network, we usually insure for about $40,000...!

You should see the FedEx lady when she reads that amount. Next, we take a picture of her AND the box on the scale to prove it was "packaged correctly". It runs about $300 extra dollars, but (knock on wood), we haven't had an issue.

Thanks for the input and well wishes.

This situation prompts a concern for me and my fellow Stage 3/3.5 Epic upgrade people... What do we do if we send our R1 cameras in via UPS or FedEx and they don't get delivered or something gets messed up in the delivery process? I belive both FedEx and UPS charge about $5 per $100 of insurance beyond the initial $100 of coverage - so to fully insure a R1 to ship back for trade in will cost more than $1,200. It would be cheaper for me to fly to CA and rent a car to drive it to RED for the trade-in on a day off in my schedule.

Are there any other fully insured solutions for shipping the R1 back to RED for trade-in that cost less than $500 besides a quick flight to CA?

You should have insurance on your gear; all-risk, worldwide, transit included. You should also have liability insurance so if someone trips on your tripod you are covered.
Cheers,
Harry

Mitch, sounds like the thing to do is have them hold it at the nearest distribution center and pick it up from there. That way if it gets lost it will be before they can say it was in your hands.

I hadn't thought of my insurance that way. Does it cover my gear before I even receive it? Like as soon as I pay for it, it's covered by my insurance too? I guess that can work... Thanks!

Sorry, I thought you were asking how to insure your cameras for a trip back to Red.

If I purchased something and FedEx failed to deliver it (from any company) I would do a chargeback on my credit card.
For a company like Red, I would work my way up through my Bomb Squad rep to Brent to wherever I needed to go. You can bet that the folks at Red are very dedicated to customer satisfaction and would make it right.
But yes, for big ticket items (like cameras and lenses) I always update my schedule with my agent to reflect the item I expect to take delivery of. It's paid for, or at least invoiced. How long would you normally wait to get your 24-290 insured? A day or two after you get it? A week? Better to get it on the schedule of insured equipment with your insurance company. If FedEx loses the item on its way to you there will be a very big dog in your corner.
Cheers,
Harry

Irony of mispelling Dyslexic? ;-)

But I've had exactly the same problem - The courier service where I live can sometimes be a joke. I've come home to find a note from a courier saying 'Your package has been placed in your grass cuttings bin in your back garden'
And the amount of times packages get left with my neighbour (even though I specifically tell them not to - if you knew my neighbours you'd know why I wouldnt want packages left there!!)
