  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Alpha 2.02 issues - please report here

I have had more problems with the lcd going black on bootup. Reboot would not fix it by itself but only with repeated removal/insersetion of the cable. As I was on top of an Alpine mountain at magic hour this was quite akward. Perhaps the cold was affecting it? In the end I rolled without the lcd (or any picture) and got the shot but I am rolling back to the release build now.

Can you send a log file to support?

I also lost my audio meters on the 5" touchscreen. It did record sound to the R3d and I could see levels on the embedded SDI from the camera. Reboots did not fix.

There was an update last night, but from the notes, it doesn't not look like it fixes audio level display?

Can you email me the log file?

Asked Joesph Hutson has things are going on his shoot in Dubai , this was his report-

"bug I've found is turning on HDRx with the bomb plugged in causes all bomb/monitor input to die. You have to put a REDmote on and turn off HDRx to get back to where you need to be."

LOST AUDIO--

Our crew is currently shooting a feature film and had audio working great Saturday. Today, crew contacted me and stated that they have lost audio. No indication and meters. I had them ck all the cables (tested that the feed is good) and checked the camera settings. Reboot, reset cables, . Currently running Epic_Build_2_v2.0.2.

Crew will email me a log file at first break of the day. I will forward that to RED TEAM (Ticket already started). Thanks

Lost sound issue... fix:

If they hear sound, it could be recorded on the r3d. It seems that unplug the minijack from the front and reboot helps. Are the sound dots indicator red?

Pat
Patrick, Thanks for info, Waiting to hear back from the 1st AC if the indicators are red. I think they have checked and done everything everything else. might need a re-flash or update to the newest Alpha. Will advise ASAP. Also awaiting a camera log file to send to the RED TEAM.

I wish I had the camera here, but then it would not be out working;-)

The preview doesn't display presented flicker @240fps, but you see it while playingback the clip. So I choose 230fps instead in order to monitor any flicker. It happens both at 2k and 2k WS modes.

I had several weird issues last night, but let me start by saying playback works great. Really excited for this firmware to make it to the next step of corrections.

ISO adjustments were having no impact on exposure. Nothing changed on screen even when going from 800 ISO to 12,000 ISO (just in fiddling to fix the problem). A reboot did not fix it either. However I finally chose restore factory defaults in the menu and it was restored. This happened twice and was fixed the same both times.

I had a strange monitoring issue. The bottom third of the frame was not synced with the top two thirds of the frame. It was a delay of about a half a second almost like an extreme case of rolling shutter in a concentrated area. I can confirm that this was only a monitoring issue and was not recorded. It fixed itself after about 20 seconds but did happen several other times.

I had black calibration fail three times. I have yet to successfully complete a successful black calibration with this firmware.

This is all I have experienced so far but it was just my first night with the new firmware. Hope this helps RED.

Also having same audio problems as listed here. Will send log files on monday. Seemed like pulling things out, putting them back in, restarting many times eventually fixed but nothing clear.

Other strange thing with audio: my Sennheiser G2 lavs which sound perfect on my little sony ex1, have this very strange fading in and out on the epic - any ideas? Would these need to be set to balanced or unbalanced?

The boom works great - when the audio works.

Thanks,
Max

Is everybody posting here still using the Alpha build? Or has this thread morphed into a discussion of the 2.0.5 beta build?

I have found that all the audio issues resolve with a researing of the audio cables. Like unplugging and plugging them in "wakes up" the ports so that they "detect" audio.

Have not had this problem in 2.0.5 yet.
