  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Camera tracking data using a Playstation move.

Thomas, looks like you guys had a lot of fun with that. I'm doing this on a project we're shooting in January. Already did preliminary tests over the past couple weeks.

Lightwave3D 11 (out in beta now) has built-in support for the PS Move controllers. ;)

Awesome. I might have to look into that! I'd love to hear about your testing and in turn your results (if you're so inclined to share).

Hey Jeff,

Lightwave supports Playstation Moves? Wicked. We were stuffed a little as we had to work in real time and had to use a computer games engine (Unity) using data processed out off Move.Me . I imagine support of the move won't be realtime although there are realtime engines that bolt onto lightwave.

I shot the:

Early 2011Vodafone Evolution of Mobile. Our first foray into Micro-Mapping

At the bottom of: http://www.marshmallowlaserfeast.com/

In the beginning of the year and that was pre-rendered. On that job we could have taken a move, recorded a rehearsal of the camera track and then rendered out the perspective correct animations. Although on that tip I would have just preferred a set of tracking markers through boujou during a rehearsal. In actual fact with the time constraints on Vodafone I just did my best to follow the imagination of an animator.. Tricky.

Wow. Fantastic!

Can't talk about too many specifics yet as a lot of the beta software is under NDA. I will say that it's been very easy to work with thus far and I'm super excited for this job. Going to be a lot of fun! Some minor beta type glitches have popped up, but the software is supposed to be complete within the next few weeks, so we'll see. The glitches encountered so far are nothing that can't be worked around.

Real-time in Lightwave, within the capacity of the software. Not as good as what you would get through a game environment like Unity and setting up your environment there, though. There's some brief info on it in the LightWave 11 features video and in the new features listing over at newtek.com if you want to check it out. It will be real-time enough where we can feed monitor output from lightwave back to a display on the camera itself for the operator. Everything will be rendered in post though, trying to be as realistic as possible.

Looks great though.!
