Hello !

It would be awesome if someone could share his knowledge about some technical informations about the modules :

- Wich modules will be existing ?
I think we know about Pro I/O, Battery, RearSSD, but what about Proxy and simple I/O ? Maybe more crazy stuffs coming out of engineerr's head (and we love crazy things ;-)

- What are the output of the pro I/O module ?

- Does the rear SSD allow some multiple record ? Will it be possible to REC on 2 cards (like EX3) ?

- Why do we need an "adapter module" ????

- And the hardest thing to answer : When ?

Any kind information about module would be apprecied !
The last big thing about module is http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?22547-Dec.-3rd-Announcement-here... or http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?61495-EPIC-U-TURN&highlight=hdsdi+module

Thanks a lot !

Simple IO (if you mean the Basic IO module) has, AFAIK, been canned for a while now. Don't quote me on that though, but I remember Jarred posting something about it.

Found this quote from Jarred on the subject:
I don't even remember what the Base I/O was. :) heh heh.

I should delete that thread.. amazing how much can change in 18 months.

...while not definitive, I'd pretty much assume that means it's gone - but if someone from RED wants to confirm, that'd be nice too :-)

We need the adaptor module to connect the modules... :)

Agree. Kinda a weird to define the SSD module and adaptor modules as "options" in the current state of shipping equipment. OTOH, when the REAR SSD modules start pop'ing up and the pro IO, I think it is not unlikely that a few will setup for an alexa-like formfactor, more than the DSLR kind the currently shipping Epic is. All in one body without a lot of adaptorcables and breakout boxes. For quite a few uses THAT formfactor is the most recognzeable and thus the most userfriendly.

Fot others, like 3D rigs and oe-man-bands, the mini-body with a recorder is the dream-come-true.

The philosphy is modularism.
To some this comes as a confusion.
To others it is a dream com true.

Eventually, most will think it's a bit of both.

LOL

It lets you start off quite cheaply, though - which is good.

Please,

Someone have some informations ?

Thanks !

Unfortunately, I believe at this time nobody really knows what is going to happen. Thats the way RED works, its a blessing and a curse. You don't know whats going to happen because they change their mind as they engineer things in order to create the best product they can. The only thing we do know as of now I believe is that the Quad Battery Module will be shipping with Epic Stage 3.

Let's hope they ship for stage 2 first!

Just saying'
