Hey guys,

I wanted to let you know about some LED light panels I just bought from Spec-Comm. No, I don't work for them or affiliated with them in any way. I saw an email a week ago about a new light kit they're selling so I bought 2. They are awesome! They can either use AA batteries and ship with a sony or panasonic battery adapter (with battery included!). They come with a diffusion and 3200k filters for $165. A comparable Litepanels LED light is around $400 at B&H. The coolest part is if you get a few of them you can connect them together to create a giant LED panel, something the Litepanel micros can't do. I can't say enough about them. Perfect for an indy crew on a budget. I shoot weddings on the side and wearing a 10 pound battery belt all day was really annoying and the tungsten light looked horrible and got really hot but it was all I could afford at the time. Now I can shoot for hours with a very light weight LED.

The only thing that bummed me out was that it accepts AC power but doesn't come with a plug.

UPDATE: A guy over at dvxuser pointed me to this : http://www.ebay.com/sch/Continuous-...catref=1&_sc=1&_sop=15&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1538

It's the same light but doesn't include batteries or a case. I'd still recommend the spec-comm kit if you do run and gun or usually shoot in a location with no power but if you want to build a set up similar to litepanels 1x1 you can pick these up with the dc adapter in a 2x2 set up for around $280 compared to the 1x1's price of $1700.

I think they are Z96 or same as Dedo Felini click. Use them with the the NPF batteries and they will be fine and not clicker, dont use the AA batteries or they will flicker. We use some 1/4 - green with them and they work well.

I own two and they connect via a little side plate that comes with them. They are pretty rigid when connected but a little finnicky to connect initially. Everything that Dave says is true, do not use AA batteries as they will flicker like crazy. Use Sony Lithiums (even off-brand ones are fine) and they run forever, I definitely like the look of them with a little diffusion thrown in front vs. naked, and I don't mean the included magnetic diffusion as I find it kills too much light.

I use these as a fill-light alongside my Coollight LED-600 panels when i'm on the road and running on only battery power, they seem pretty close to 5600k.
