I must say I'm disappointed with the lack of communication from RED. I have ordered a RED Scarlet, paid my deposit and not so much as a thank you or an idea of when to expect delivery.
No emails, simply no correspondence even after emailing them with a couple questions. Is it just with me or is that the way RED operates with everyone else? If I ran my business this way I'd be on the street.

Understandably, they must have a lot of orders to process, even an automated email would have suffice to keep me at ease letting me know.

Being in Australia, I was waiting for the dollar value to be higher before putting my order through, and RED still hasn't even processed my credit card. Now the dollar is down 5% so my price has just increased 5% which ads up!.

I'm new to RED but now I'm worried the same level of service will carry through, it's already costing me.

Am I wrong? Can someone reassure me please?

Joel Mielle.

Depending on when you ordered you should get, or should have gotten, an automated email with a time-stamped order number. Other than that, you can check into your account at RED.com and see if you have any open orders. If not, then something went wrong. If you do, then I think you are good.

As you pointed out, RED has a LOT of orders to process - not just Scarlet, although that, alone, would be enough to bog down any system. I suggest being patient. RED has proven themselves as a customer oriented company. Chill and you'll be fine.

And FWIW - you're not going to win any friends at RED with a harsh email like this as your first post on REDuser.

Take it from me, you are going at this the wrong way dude..
First of all CALL THEM..
Second, check your order on RED.com and make sure it's in if so, sit back and wait or call them.
Third, they won't fully charge you until your unit is ready to ship.

Lastly if you don't have patience and need something ASAP You should rent something.. Just don't go crazy, it wont get you anywhere good.. Status updates is one thing.. Just really think before you dig yourself a hole..

This comes from me as someone who was impatient but learned there is a reason someone came up with the saying "patience pays"

This is some sort of enthusiast's community, not wholesale service :) as long as you are in - be prepared to stay in line for a while. I personally think it could take several month from now. Sooner or later it is going to happen. It is quite clear that RED team NOT promising to deliver your personal order within couple weeks or so. Cheers anyway. So far it is the best camera in the known universe :wink5:

Maybe it is my economics background (my masters being heavily focused on international trade), but I never understand this issue popping up. If the value of your currency is favorable today and you are worried about the exchange becoming less favorable, why not go down to the bank and convert it to USD NOW and pay the vendor in USD when final payment is due?

But don't expect e-mail communication to be quick with RED. If you are that concerned, I'd just call.

I'm actually surprised Brent hasn't answered this himself. It's been like 8 minutes.

I second that uneasement with handling the ordering process..

Having not yet any infos about shipping and handling, i am not able to wire the sum as i wanted (currency exchange rate is also of the essence here)
Especially as i dont see how phoneing your buddies at red-hq is doing their massive workload any good while we mere mortals waiting here for something to happen

One post about where we stand regards to Dec. 1th can get hundreds of souls to ease, but phoning one by one.. only gives extreme workload..

You won't be charged for your Scarlet until it's ready to ship unless you ask them to charge you now. If you want to lock in an exchange rate you should call when you like it and do a Wire Transfer or CC deposit to your account.

Depending on when and what mount you ordered it could be charged/shipped randomly between today and February. They also seem to be prioritizing responses based on how close to shipping you are. It took about 2.5 days before they could get around to my inquiry.

Here u go again saying some rude stuff that doesn't need to be said, the guy is rightfully concerned with that much money I would be to, I don't think the guy needs a response like this harsh ones saying he wont win any friends always trying to stir stuff up I'm sure he is more concerned about his money and order than making friends..And his post was far from being harsh, wtf is wrong with u!.

First, if you have order processing questions, we ask that you check our FAQs to see if your question is already answered.

Second, has has been posted in a few areas here, yes, we are slammed. We got a huge response to SCARLET-X and are doing our best to get through all calls/emails as quickly as we can.

Third, Joel, I do not seen an online order for you or one in our reservation system. I did a search by your last name. If there is other search criteria I should be using, send me a PM.

Joel,

Scarlet was my first purchase thru RED, and I have to say my experience was quite the opposite.

1) To start, I DID get an order confirmation from RED for my Scarlet reservation, so the fact you haven't yet means the quite real possibility that your order didn't go through.
2) My rep, Whitney Krapes, has been a champ in answering any and all of my questions for me. I did have an issue with my order initially - I can only assume because of the server issues Nov. 3rd, I accidentally placed 2 orders for Scarlet - but this was cleared up quickly and without hassle.

For now, I realize my order isn't ready to ship, so I am staying patient. Sorry about your experience, but once you do get your order in, hopefully my experience will reassure you that things do run pretty smoothly.

See ya, Bart. Have a nice vacation.

Yeah, I can either post on REDUSER or make sure SCARLET-X orders are going out the door. Choices, choices...

Not much of a choice there. Scarlet X orders out the door, OFCOURSE!! ;)) My thanks in advance, Brent and team!

If you are worried about the exchange rate changing you can send a wire transfer.
