ok, lets start from the beginning,
in 2007 i was doing documentaries with fucked up camcorders, i didnt have the possibilities to shoot on 35 mm or HDcam.
Then there was this strange website, red.com.
there was only a render, nothing more.
i had saved 20 k in semptember 2007,
i put down a deposit, everybody laughed,
- mother fucker you lost 1000 dollars without knowing it, this jannard guy will swallow your money, he will never deliver. you are like the guys believing in the force and santa. you idiot. -
i said, we will see.
why did i put down the money?
man, i wanted to shoot nice pictures for the projects i already did. nothing more, nothing less.
- even if he delivers, how the fuck will you get back your money? 20k, for a camera? -
I said, we will see.
then the 1st RED was deliverd, to Mark...nine month later i did get my mail.
I did save 34 k, i spend all of it at RED.
The cam arrived, i fired it up and the first thing i did film was my foot....with a borrowed 40 year old 75mm schneider lens. it was 11 pm. it was late. i had to work at the day of delivery.
3 fucking months later, i returned my investment.
Today, three years later, i own a set of cooke s4, a whole post production pipeline, one epic M, one epic X, i did sell two screenplays, co-directed one feature and will shoot one next spring.
without RED this would have never happen.
REd was the tool which gave the possibilty to show my skills....

thats for all of you out there, having doubts. red is a great company, they are in the save your ass business (especially brent and alan piper).
you see, this company will never let you down.

This is what Red is all about. Making the "unrealistic" hopes of many a real possibility. Throw in talent and drive, and you turn a Red One into a production company. Congratulations Kaya. Thank you for the positive vibes.

Mike

OP, have I missed something? Is it now considered professional to use a bunch of profanity when expressing oneself? Jeez. :nonod:

+1 I wish you continued success

. . . sounds like a rant from Pulp Fiction "RED Royale MutherFuckers!"

Language is a poor enough means of communication. I think we should all the words we've got. Besides, there are damn few words that anybody understands.

Good story.

heh - the guy who works for TMZ TV is the arbiter of taste now? the very same website where one of today's lead "stories" reads, in big letters, "What's inside that guy's butt?"

we live in a funny, funny world. endlessly entertaining.

good story, Kaya - RED should start a collection of these.

whats inside that guys butt?- well that is really funny.

i am sure there are hundreds of stories like mine in the red community.
lets follow meryems advise, lets start here, right in this thread.
