I just read mainly on Phillip Bloom site that he has had problems with RED Epic droping frames and have read that RED one has had similar problems , is this true? Will the Scarlet have these issues or can they be easily fixed just wondering because frame droping sucks big time for syncing in post. if I could get some feedback on this issue would be great it is a concern since we do allot of syncing in post. Thank you all in advance =) http://topsy.com/www.stadamedia.co....ues-with-footage-from-host-video-blog-update/

I have yet to see a framedrop on the Epic.
And I have really hammered it, at times...

On the R1 MX, I haven't been able to confirm any framedrops from solid state, that wasn't due to copy errors.

And I oversee some rather data intensive RED productions with 100+ shootingdays a piece.

To me this sounds... strange...

Just never heard of this problem I want to make sure the warranty covers such issues =)

I dunno about Mr Bloom, but I have seen very similar things, and they were not camera related, even though everyone was pointing at the Epic.

So... If it isn't the camera causing it, it's not covered by the waranty!

:)

I don't have my Epic yet but I have been using my RED for over 3 years now. I have never had any problem with it dropping frames except on a boat with 2 different motors running. The vibration was terrible. I assume it was similar to the problems on a helicopter. I was able to record without any dropped frames when I used one hand to put enough pressure on the hard drive to keep it from vibrating. Of course if the problem was on an Epic with a SSD it wasn't from vibration.

Three years with my Red One and never a dropped frame Much of the shooting was with cam mounted on cars and trucks. Three months with my Epic and noting but perfect files.

Thank you all it was a concern because we do allot of music videos, so in post that would be bad for syncing, but we will get RED armor and just because it did happen to someone dosent mean it always happens =) thanks to all =)
