RED INDIA

Ted has been globetrotting again (as he usually does).. this time he is in Mumbai to officially announce RED INDIA. We are very excited to officially expand our reach into India, and Ted is going to spend the next couple days spreading the word in person.

From Ted:

I've been in Mumbai India for the past few days as a key part of my Asia journey, preparing for a major announcement. We just completed an event here in one of the most important and largest markets for Cinema in the world, launching RED INDIA. This center will be a hub for RED Sales, Service, Support, Workflow training and learning right in the heart of Film City in Mumbai. We will be housed inside one of the most prestigious, and well known Studios and Movie Production companies here in India, Yash Raj Films. They were an early adopter of RED technology, embracing the format and workflow, and I made many friends here in the process, and they graciously offered to be the location for this next step for REDs Industry support internationally.

I've secretly briefed a few of the key post, vfx and production companies in Mumbai about our RED INDIA Launch plans over the past few days, and the response has been overwhelming. Having a local presence in India to support the substantial growth of the RED ONE, EPIC and very soon SCARLET-X for the many projects being lensed all over India on these cameras is a really big deal for them. Relationships and local knowledge are critical here, just as in other parts of the world, and we are thrilled to take a more direct and Active Role in the motion picture Industry here in India.

Tomorrow morning we are off to Hyderabad and then Chennai India, also major cities for the India Cinema market for more meetings, EPIC footage screenings and Presentations. Looking forward to your feedback and thoughts on this next important step in REDs continuing evolution.

+ Ted

Hyderabad!! My hometown. Can't believe RED could actually have a presence there. Awesomeness. If I get my Scarlet in time, I'm planning to take it to India in December.

USA. UK. India.

The world map is turning Red, and its not a commie invasion we need to fear.
Only the spread of Digital Cinema for the masses.

Oh no... millions of backorders... I thought we just had it...

;-)

This is immense news. I know a fair few people who will be ecstatic to hear this.

Awesome.

Yeah I hope RED are ready for this!! hehehe

Very cool. I'm here now shooting a feature in Delhi and will be off to Mumbai in a couple of days for final shooting. I'm amazed at how many productions here are shot on 5D or Sony. Panasonic is really out of the loop. We're shooting on the Af100 (Scarlet on order) which is really working out fine considering how gorilla we've been shooting, but I do look forward to seeing more work finished on RED here in India.

Fun night - next country after 2 more stops in India is Japan!

Anywhere on your travels in our neck of the woods?

If not youre always welcome if you fancy a stopover break on the return journey!

Anyway, congrats on the new venture.

Such an important market, and such amazingly talented crews.

What an insanely crazy night.
Almost 200 odd people turned up and there was tremendous interest this time around with all the Scarlet-X announcements and the likes.
I looked around and found almost all the prolific DOP's in the crowd watching Ted's presentation.
I must say the reels looked fantastic.

And then the big one, RED INDIA gets announced. Finally!
Its been a long journey and I am so glad that its all coming to life now. This should help tremendously ease out all the logistical and communication problems there might have existed with new customers now having direct access to local sales + support.

Wooohooo!

Great News! Frankly speaking I was wondering when RED will come to India. Its a good move. Wondering if the ordering will remain the same ie ordering directly at RED.com or through RED India? I would have loved to know the details of the event in Chennai.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

The event in Chennai is tomorrow.
Ted just flew out to Hyderabad this morning for a few meetings there and will head to Chennai tonight for tomorrow's event.
Not too sure about the plan yet, but from what Ted has mentioned, it seems like there will be local sales and support, kinda like the UK office.
I am sure they'll announce more details as they iron the operations out.

Cheers!

Great News,

One more reason to start looking back at HOME.

Years back one moved out to embrace new technologies and workflows, time to head back.

Good on you guys... Thats a very very very smart move, Get the big players on side and you win. Thats the key... Middle weights won't do you much good over there.
Get the big guns sold and the rest follow... thats just the way India rolls.. :)

So happy for India.

Man I would have loved to have seen the excitement on peoples faces when they dropped that bomb! .

Now that there is going to be proper RED EPIC support there, I will start to shoot there more often.

Watch out!

RED INDIA LAUNCH....

RED INDIA LAUNCH....

Hi guys,
This was the moment we all REDUSERs in India has been looking forward to .

THE LAUNCH OF RED INDIA.....and at what better place than at the heart of Bollywood....MUMBAI....

WELCOME TO INDIA RED

I had the pleasure of attending the show and was just zapped by energy of this machine called TED...During
a brief discussion before the show I came to know he has been travelling to almost 80 countries covering different time zones...
But at the show he was energetic as a kid...He can talk for hours on RED....Really a learning experience...

This is a welcome move as RED makes it presence felt in India with the RED STORE and support....It was really missed( Mark will agree with me on this...)

Further the RED India is backed by the biggest production house in India ..Yashraj...

Here are some snaps which I can take for the show...as I was too zapped to do anything...TED pulled a fast surprise on me and I was left totally blank..(I will surely take public speaking lessons now TED)

Just back at the hotel in Mumbai, heading out to next city in India in a few hours. Was an amazing evening, showing EPIC footage and demonstrating how easy and powerful the RED workflows are for post and DI. Really enjoyed the enthusiasm of the large crowd of DPs, Directors, Producers, and Post Professionals. Perhaps my favorite part of the evening was shooting various shots of the audience with EPIC under extremely low light conditions, during a Tea Break, and immediately loading that into a Rocket enabled Mac running REDCINEX Pro and Scratch, and showing the on set post logic and directly into grading.

Fun night - next country after 2 more stops in India is Japan!
