  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

No HDMI through 1.7.9

No, didn't work. Installed 2 more times. Calibrated. Tried different settings. Get a bar of video noise for about 10 seconds and then it disappears. At one point a saw a roll bar-like flicker of the screen and then disappears, another time I saw some timecode and bit of screen flicker and then disappears.

Hey Dale. I had to fiddle with this but eventually got HDMI and SDI working. It sounds stupid but for me the trick was to reboot the camera after I changed any setting or unplugged any cable. Then it worked after powering up.

The Epic menus get a bit weird any time I'd pull a cable. The reboot fixed it.

Good question. It's a Dell 2405. It's all I have available at the moment, but it always worked great on my Red One.

Check out the monitor's specs. Epic does not work with all the devices R1 did as of yet. There are some incompatibles.

Is there a database of spec requirements or compatible monitors?

No you'd have to read the specs of the two devices.

The Epic firmware release notes for v1.6.44 say:
"HD-SDI is True Progressive, and do not support 1080i or 1080 PsF signal formats."

The Epic Manual (p 141) says:
"The HDMI output supports an HDTV compatible 10-bit 4:2:2 progressive scan video signal (with embedded audio) at 1080p resolution." and
"NOTE: HDMI video output is Progressive Scan; it does not support 1080i or 1080PsF modes."

So look at your monitor's specs and see what they say. Also, the monitor may need to have its settings adjusted to match.
