I've noticed that a lot of things in the RED Store are on backorder. Is there a reason for this? Being new to RED, does this happen often?

Hi Chris,

Yes RED is not a HUGE company "yet" like Canon or Sony, but they are hugely popular and they are still quite young. So backorder has always been a part of being a REDuser so far. However they have said they are making big efforts to make next step in this regard, and the upside is that form my small experience, the customer service is outstanding, unless people get antsy or try to bully them.

For all the problems they have, this: http://www.red.com/store/new-releases/product/dsmc-tactical-cage gives me a lot of hope for RED's backorder future. I would much rather have them put something in the store a month in advance to help them gauge interest and stock up accordingly instead of guessing at a batch size only to have it sell out in a minute and a half. They're getting better and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you for the reply. I just purchased two scarlets, and was considering getting a couple Epics if everything went well with the Scarlets, but being I have not had any experience with RED until now, I was curious about this. Also, and this is a silly question, when you say "try to bully (RED)", what do you mean by this?

There are a lot of ass-hats on reduser who would rather complain in an open forum then just call their rep and get the problem resolved.

I see, thanks for the heads up. Last question, in all the pictures of the Scarlet, it has a Redmote sitting on the back. This does not come with the Scarlets however, correct? I'd need to get this separately?
