  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just to be clear...Does the Scarlet utilize CF cards?

The website indicates that the CF cards are compatible with all of their cameras, but it seems like this may be a typo. Can anybody confirm either way?

Thank you in advance,
~Omar

they previously talked about a potential adapter... but its all up in the air til we hear more from them...

Thanks guys. Can anyone tell me what the RED station RED mags 1.8's are? What are they used for? Please pardon me as I am still trying to understand this technology.

I just found another exciting bit of news, I just got off the phone with Jeromy from Atomos and apparently they just tested the Samurai HD-SDI recorder with an Epic today and the results are terrific. I'm heading over there in 2 weeks to take a look at it. If the Samurai can give me high-quality 1080p in Pro Res from the Scarlet, that'll pretty much seal the deal for me (I have serious concerns about the ability of my current Mac Pro editing suite to handle Red Code footage).

It would allow you to do all your recording to CF cards and also allow you to stagger some of the Red purchases to make putting together a full kit more achievable.

Import from red mags as in import to a computer?

Scarlet = Epic in every way except data rate which affects frame rate. At 24FPS 7:1 compression they are identical
