Just got the Heavy Duty Support system from Jacek @ Optitek, first of all I must say that Jacek's attention to customer service and details is equally as good of that of RED, very pleased with him.

I have taken few quick pics of both the mount support ring, and of it mounted on the RPZ 18-85, and you will see that craftsman ship of this item is marvelous, it is very strong, very solid fill, and most importantly fits the RPZ 18-85 securely and like a Glove!!

I felt very safe about holding up the RPZ 18-85 by the handle, and it felt also very sturdy and safe to lift up and walk about with it, and also it offers various options to mount items on it while filming.

The bottom support system allows it to be mounted directly on to the RED Universal Mount.

I must say, congrats to Jacek for the job extremely well done in designing this Item, an important and to my opinion an absolute MUST HAVE for those of US with the RPZ 18-85!!

BRAVO JACEK!!

Very nice. Does he make supports for the primes too - some of the could use it. The 300mm in particular, but also the 25 and 35. They're heavy and I can't believe how much stress they will put on the mount.

Lenses that need support

Lenses that need support

Thank you guys for kind words.
As far as supporting primes I don't think it's necessary. Maybe the 300mm with a clip-on but as far as front filters for telephoto lenses you have to be very careful- we used to stress test filters by putting them in front of aaprox 200mm achromat and looking at infinity- half of them turned the image into garbage. Whenever possible you should use rear filters for telephoto lenses unless you are absolutely sure that you putting a perfectly flat filter in front of the lens.
Having said that I'll look into making a simple inexpensive support ring for the 300mm. I tried once to gather enough interest and got only one or two responses. So again- I need about 20 redusers seriously interested in RED 300mm Pro support ring.
Price would be $200-250 depending on quantity.
Let me know here or via PM

I'd be interested. Probably would need two within the next couple months when they're ready.
