  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon mount stopped production or what???????

Ordered mine within 5 min of it going live on RED.com and still nada what's up with that?

Happy you have scarlet coming out, but where is my mount I ordered the within 5 min?

Like Jarred said, no one knows the actually number of mounts ordered that weekend alone...so...perhaps in that single 5mins it took you to process maybe you ended up like #2000 in the queue? I still haven't got mine either but then again, I dont have an X yet...

Mind you they are cranking them out now... but all the same, I am sure people have ordered them faster than their out-cranking capacity...

Speaking of which, I really hope backorders will be a thing of the past with whatever Red shall be announcing tomorrow...

Can't wait to play with my canon mount! :)
 
My bomb squad rep said they are trickling out. And because they're made out of Ti and go through an extensive qc, it takes some time before they get shipped.
I ordered early as well and all we can do is sit tight and wait.
Hope it isn't too much longer.

Would be interesting.. But I'm sure it ain't made out of titanium...

Just venting because I've have to settle on a few shots over the last month that I would have rather not have..

It's an honest question as well.. I understand that they didn't expect the overwhelming response, but the backorder is not even through the first 5 minutes is my worry..

Yeah, I think you have to look at it this way... Not just epic owners bought this mount... hopeful epic owners bought this mount. So there was a ton of orders. It is a shame they didn't fulfill orders based off of people actually owning an epic first, and then send out to people waiting for an epic-x.

I feel your pain Justin.
 
It kinda does suck to pay 58k and then wait forever on redmote, side handle, pro battery module, pro i/o module & canon mount. I'm still waiting on four of those... the redmote and side handle would be nice. Hopefully we'll have a few people selling their canon mounts or the production will ramp up when I'm ready for one. Wish I had the foresight to order one before receiving my Epic-X. Heck... I'd still be waiting anyway.
 
patience is a virtue.

perhaps you didn't fully understand what you were getting yourself into. they always overdeliver on expectations of quality, but tend to underdeliver on expectations of timeliness. red is not a huge corporation, they are a small handful of people doing huge things... and that's pretty cool.

my advice: stop wishing for what you don't have, and go get what you can.

For some reason the Canon Mount has been the hardest on me because its actually taking away from what I could be shooting, you can really shoot out of the box with the EPIC with the SSD and the 5.0 touch screen.. I'm sure it'll come soon :-)

True, still learning, just working on the whole patience thing is also a work in progress for me.. Trust me I understand now why Jim has that on his signature........
 
don't forget you can rent lenses temporarily justin. i know it seems like the only way you can get anything done is with that mount, and i really hope they all go out soon because a lot of people can benefit from it. but if you're really having a hard time getting something that really is that important, rent some pl glass that you need. otherwise, make do the best we can, right?

Indeed...and since those accessories are only vailable from RED, we have no other alternatives. I am just thankful that we at least have some other third parties like Wooden camera and view factor that can alleviate our pain on some of the other more basic accessories. Without them our frustration would be doubled. The Epic is a unbelievable great camera and an amazing technological achievement.... But we cannot use its full potential without the proper accessories that are on constant backorder...especially when they go on back order within 5 minutes.... Not just talking about more complicated item like the canon mount but even the smaller "simpler" parts like modular assault plate and the tactical top plates.....
 
It would be great if we had a sticky in the sales section of those that are willing to rent the mount.

The cost difference is extreme.. Hence the reason I am sure the mount is selling faster than the iPhone on release day..
