So the new Macbooks have a different slot that doesn't take the regular ExpressCard, what are you guys doing as a solution so you can use the Mobile Rocket with the newer macbooks?

???

Macbook Pro 17" still has an ExpressCard-34 slot. It's a v2.0, which is capable of 2X the bandwidth of the previous version, but is fully backward compatible. The MaxxDigital, Magma and others all still work with this system. I don't know of any PCIe expander solutions that make use of the v2 higher data rate.

If you can hold off just a bit, then do. Several ThunderBolt solutions coming soon that will be much better.

No, that 'different slot' you're looking at is probably the SD card reader. Unfortunately there's no way to use a Red Rocket card with the current sub 17" MBPs, until these Thunderbolt to PCIe enclosures are released, that is.

The 15" models don't have it

Yeah, but that's not a "new" development... That happened 2 years ago when they all went to the "unibody" construction.

Like Andrew says, the "slot" you see is the SD card slot.

With the new MBP's that have Thunderbolt, you want one of the upcoming Thunderbolt expanders anyway. If you have one of the previous couple models of 15" MBP without Thunderbolt and without ExpressCard slot, you're pretty much hosed.

Just canceled the 15 and went 17.. It's not that big of a difference when you consider the anti-glare HD screen addon
