  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Rocket 3k

I have worked with 4k footage on an imac and had no prob just not worth the money for us if we are already spending close to 8k on a camera package to spend another couple of grand it's not in our budget. I will transcode as I have always done with no prob ans save ourselves the money that can go to rigs or production cost such as wardrobe or lights or whatever =)

Just not in the budget - I'd love one and plan on getting one eventually - but for the first 6 months to year of owning a Scarlet I'd say I'll probably only be able to work on one lens and minimal SSD's.

For a Scarlet specific 3k Red Rocket I guess I'd pay around $2500? Any more than that is pushing my pocket, but I doubt Red could manufacture and profit much off this.

Not in the budget =(

FWIW a graphics card from this list:

http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/performance.html

Its the list of supported cards for Adobes awesome Mercury Playback Engine.

makes a HUGE difference. Even my GTX 460 makes a great improvement. I would go for a gtx 580 if I could. I would even say a step down on the processor to get a better card is worth it.

I am on CS5 and it is awesome, I will get CS5.5 when I grow up some day ;-P

I have a Quadro 4600 card on my mac pro and with Cs5.5's ability to use lower resolutions i can edit 4k footage no problem.
