Well done Ross....Holy Crap, you sure have your hands full with the scooter, camera, RB & how many stage bottles? I'm surprised your scooter even moves you. I just got the Cuda 650 a few months back and love the possibilities it offers for shooting....my last shoot it came in so handy....
Nicely done. How about specifics now:
*shot on red
*transcoded in RCX to ?
*edited in ?
*graded in ?
....did you do all of the above?

Hey Johnny
The diver in the clip is Lance Robb my CCR safety and instructor for all our deep rebreather dives. I use a similar CCR Megalodon rig. Lance did a 156 meter (512 feet) but he is planning a 180 meter (590 feet) dive soon although I won't be going that deep.
Footage was shot on my good ol Deep Red
Transcoded from RAW to Prores 444
Graded in REDCINE X PRO (the first time I ever used it with my New Mobile Rocket so it is still a bit glitchy)
Edited in FCP 7

Just trying to get my head around workflows for our new DEEP ATOM.

Cool stuff.....RCX is a great way to go....been using it for years then back to FCP. i find it helps to be abel to monitor 10bit via rocket card out as well as back in FCP with an I/O device so you can really keep an eye on your blacks/whits and know that you are actually outputting what you see.

that said i recently jumped ship to Premier and going through the same setup/learn curve for grading/edit....
Good luck....seems shooting these days is much more intense.....1 hour diving/shooting = 3 hours office grading/editing.

Hi guys
here is a short clip I just cut using my new Mobile Rocket and REDCINE x PRO. Just foolin around getting used to using the new hardware and software.

Beautiful ROss, nice grade for just foolin around. Some breath taking dives you got there, keep it coming.

Thanks Clayton I was actually using a 15" MacbookPro to cut this.....will be getting a 17" soon and then it should all work more efficiently.

anyone here any word on housings in the works for Scarlet fixed? i gather this might be premature as we are still awaiting Nov 3 announcement.

Already built for EPIC, shot at Tiger Beach already and in Key Largo, with a slight mod for Scarlet probably ready for use pretty quick. But several are sitting ready for modification at Aquavideo/Michael Hastings office.

I'm going to Chuuk Lagoon in january next year, hopefully with an Epic-M and a good set of Canon Lenses. Can anyone recommend an appropriate UW housing?

Hi Paul and welcome to Reduser.
I'm on track to announce a revolutionary housing for the Epic in December. It will be the only housing offering wide angle optic resolving 5k underwater. In ready to dive configuration it will meet the carry on weight and size restrictions for air travel. Pricing ~$20k.
Unfortunately, due to patenting process, I'm not able to reveal much more technical details at this point in time.
If you are interested, please send me an email and I will send you more information when available. You can find my contact details on my website.

For any bubble blowers that may not know, the DEMA dive show is in Orlando this year November 2 to 5.

Will be there with Epic and R1 housings among others.

It would also be easy to schedule dives in the Keys or Shark Dives with Stuart Cove in Nassau after the show.

that's more in my price range. But how does the Epic M, touch screen and power options fit into it?

My Epic is in the Red Sea right now, but I'll get you some pictures of the internal setup when it comes back in a few days.

The basic setup is a 15.5" long mounting tray with the camera setback about 4 inches for the lens, then a space for the connectors, a mount for a V-block battery and then then the LCD at the back, and we can put a control in to hit the programmable buttons on the LCD so you can set white balance or whatever. Eventually, most people will use the quad Redvolt module since it eliminates the battery and 1B-2B cable which gets in the way some times when you are sliding it in and out of the housing.

From there you have a lot of a la carte options:

We have an external control box for the Redmote, which is my preference but right now the low power wifi is not even penetrating the plastic - supposedly the power will be greatly increased soon, but until then we are working on a possible wired option but have to get approval from Red. So the other alternative is to have the Redmote and controls on the backplate which is easy to do since it is just the same thing we do on the small external box but on the larger backplate. But with the Redmote on the backplate it dicatates that you have to have the optional external LCD or EVF setup. It also seems to me that, even though the control seals are very reliable - you have 23 or so control penetrations (and this is true on the Gates housing as well) - and I personally am more comfortable with them being on the independent box where if it does leak you are risking just the $550 Redmote rather than it AND your $50K camera.

The Redmote external case is $1295 - if we need the wired option that will add at least a few hundred dollars depending on how we have to implement that.

The Redmote backplate is $1595 as it is actually a bit more difficult to make than the external case.

The external LCD and EVF cases range from $1600 - $2400 and are available for Bomb EVF, 5", 5.6 and 7" LCDs

Yep, that makes sense.

Looks like I'll have to wait until everyone's got their prototypes sorted out, but I'm scheduled to be there from 6th Jan onwards so I'll need to order something by the end of Nov.

Well, nothing changes on our basic housing package that we have been using for six months, all the question marks are on the add-on pieces.

Hay Mike I am in Tavenier in the keys right after DEMA..love to try your new toy..Kozzzzzz

Might be difficult, I have rentals and a shoot in the middle of dema and Frazier and I both on a shoot right after. Come see it at DEMA. We have a booth. I'll get the number later.

FYI - Yes, DEMA right around the corner, however, it is not open to the public. Only the professional diving community and they're being a real pain in the a** about credentials this year...

I'll be there, hoping to touch my *soon to be mine* Deep Epic.

There's still time to change your mind! ;-)

DEEP EPIC lives, and on display at DEMA. More to follow.....
