  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DOVETAIL MOUNTING PLATE (LONG) on O'Connor 1030

Nope, tried it today. The bottom doesn't fit.

I have the Red long dovetail mounted on top of the OConnor Euro Plate at the moment. Bit bulky, and silly to have double sliding plates, but working until I find a better way.

I believe Allstar has a 1080 plate which can attach to a standard arri dovetail plate.

The thing is, I want to avoid the bridge plate all together. In essence, I want a dovetailed cheese plate that is not too long (about 8", maybe up to 10") that will become a semi-permanent fixture that will function as my O'Connor baseplate with a universal rod mount on the back for quick assembly of a shoulder mount and battery plate off the rear. Quick, light and easy to pack without completely disassembling.

I am in the same boat as HD. I've got a 1030HDs and am trying to decide what is the best way to mount the Epic to it. WIll be using Canon glass. All I've have now is the small euro plate that came with the head which will work for a few situations, but need to find a solution for when I put on the 600mm. Want to keep the weight and COG down as much as possible. Would really some advice on this. I love my OConnor head, don't want to make a change while I'm building my X-package. Thanks,
Mike

No, this is actually a very different question, if you read carefully. I think the Element Technica Arri Dovetail 1030 12 is a great product, but this is not what I'm looking for. As stated above, I'm trying to avoid the bridge plate all together (which is what the above mentioned dovetail is designed for). I'm using LW 15mm off the front and I'm looking for a cheese plate that is dovetailed and designed to fit directly into my O'Connor head. In turn, that same cheese plate will be used as my baseplate. However, I plan on customizing that dovetailed cheeseplate to use as a multi-functional unit with a universal rod mount off the back for a quick-release shoulder mount and battery plate.

Guess I'll get one made for my needs.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were looking for. Sounds like a nice piece of the puzzle, would love to see what you come up with.
