  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

stupid redcine-x professional question

Hey Axel,
Unfortunately I do not think you can move the windows around in this version. It would however be nice if you could!
Maybe someone from RED can correct me if I am wrong though?

Haven't played much with the Pro version yet, but I thought it should be possible to play out the image to a second monitor over DVI in that version. Haven't made it work, and have barely opened it, but that would make the UI much more sensible...

Would also be nice if one could move the image through a aja/decklink, at least when a rocket is not present...

We went to unified single window UI after
all the feedback about how much everyone else
hated the floating windows. Where were
you guys when everyone else was voicing their
opinions for no floating windows?
 
And here I thought I was too stupid and thick to figure out how to get the windows to separate and move... so I remained silent. Even my 1981 Oakley grips had the option to be rearranged and customized. It's so Un-Red not to.
 
Deanan, I love the window design of RED Cine pro! Its the best I have seen.

Additionally, we learned lessons from the old RCX -- independent floating windows are a technical nightmare, and so we moved away from it. Hopefully Pro will grow on you -- it is quite customizable.

most probably either working or sleeping.

I love floating windows. I like to tailor my windows and drag
them all over two monitors. I use custom windows setups for every software I use.

the ability of the older version of the software to have the waveforms, colorwheels
and settings accessible without wild scrolling orgies was really nice.

is there a way to do the 'dock' - 'undock' thing that a lot of other softwares are employing ?

Having said that I know it is always hard to make everybody happy :-)

hey michael,

buy a second monitor - and you will definitely will miss the option to expand.
having said that - being German myself - I can completely relate to the joy of seeing
an uncluttered, locked down window design :-)

You can rearrange within the two right side bars for now to minimize scrolling.
