Wrote an excel sheet that should be helpful in collimating the Birger mount.

This complements the instructions given in Jay's videos, and the idea is to throw away the pen, paper and calculator Jay employed. Moreover, this should convergence very fast to the correct setting. (In the video an ancient scheme to find the setting is explain.)

The collimation goes in two stages. In the first stage one needs to get two guesses somewhat close, and thereafter the table switches to use the secant method. Everything should be pretty self instructive and somewhat dummy protected. Just start to type data into the yellow boxes from top to down and the sheet will guide what to do.

As always no warranty or guarantee it will work for you, but let's see.

Here's an pdf-example of collimation of my mount

and this is the excel file

NOTICE: In Excel the decimal separator must be a dot. Use Excel help with the keyword "decimal separator" to find out how to change it, if needed.

hey Lauri,
it looks lke a nice tool. Looking forward to use it as soon as possible

Martin, could you please send me an email firstname.lastname_at_wildcine.fi, and I'll send you the files as a reply.

Lauri,

I've got a RED One MX with the Birger (a little outdated I know) but we need help collimating this mount (Jay's Videos are no longer available) Been having trouble finding good info.
Could you send this over to me in a PM?

Thanks!

Thomas
