I'm having a major problem with the RedCineX Program installed in our Windows7 Pro PC.

Since no one as yet has been able to help me solve the problem, I want to remove the program entirely from my PC and start all over again. But it does NOT show up in the "Uninstall or Change a Program" page of our Windows7 PC. I contacted my computer guy, and he said to contact Red for instructions on how to remove it.

After it's removed I want to re-install it, to hopefully get rid of this problem I'm having. It comes up OK, and the R3D files show up fine as thumbnails, but when I click on one to bring it into the Viewer, up pops this window that says,

"REDCINE-X has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Then when I X it out or click close program, the entire program goes off.

Very, very frustrating, and I cannot proceed without it being fixed.

When we first got our new RED-One Camera and I installed RedCineX it worked great. All of this started when I went to download the upgrade to the program. DAMN ! Should have left well enough alone. You know the old saying: "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Thanks.

George,

The installer for Windows is an MSI file. If you run the same installer again, you should get an option to Repair or Remove the program.
In case this doesn't work, you'll have to manually delete files and registry entries. Messy, but must be done if all else fails.

George,

What version of REDCINE-X are you using? If you're using REDCINE-X Build 501, or 4xx, then there is no installer/uninstaller. If you're using REDCINE-X Pro Build 1, 2, or 3, then there will be an option to uninstall in the uninstall or change program dialog.

If you could, though, please start up REDCINE-X. On the main page of the preferences there's an option "Verbose Logging". Please check that. Do whatever happens that makes REDCINE-X crash and email the log file to redcinex at red dot com. You can find the log file by restarting the app and selecting "Show Log File" from the Help menu.

Thanks,

Grant

Thanks Grant.

I'm using Build 501, or I'm trying too. This was the supposed upgrade to the version I got when we bought our RED-One from you guys in May.

I did just discover, that I just downloaded Build 487, and it came out fine and works great, with no problems as far as I can tell. It's Build 501 that's the problem. I don't care that much, and I can live with Build 487. At least I've got that.

What continues to puzzle me, is why these programs do not show up in "Remove Programs".

Thanks.

George,

There is a known issue regarding this in Build 501 on Windows. For the time being, please use 487.

Thank you,

Grant
