  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Recent Video of TED; mentions Scarlet.

Good ear! I found this video shortly after it was posted, but didn't notice the "had." To be honest, this video originally had me fairly depressed, as it seemed to suggest that not much had happened during the Summer. Of course, things have changed! I wonder if this is a hint at one of them!

There are two SCARLET models, a Interchangeable Mini SCARLET with Mini Primes, and the FIXED ZOOM one, like the one Joseph, Nathan and I tested in San Francisco....

Ooh cool Scarlet tidbit, although the Ted interview could mean anything, either justifying the delays or anticipating new options, or both. Either way these are exciting times and I'm looking forward to 11/11/03. :)

Meraviglioso, Ketch, thanks for posting these. Are the photos pretty recent?

Excellent set of pictures Ketch - I'm amazed how small those cameras are (I just spent the last two day lugging a Red One setup around town which weight a ton)

But I think I have to agree with Josehop on this one, all we have seen is Scarlet fixed. Mini primes and interchanagble have been talked about but too my knowledge no one has been walking around with one as a demo or mock up in recnt times. So to suggest that Fixed is dead is definitely a knee jerk reaction to an impromptu interview comment. I think his wording was done as such because likely specs have likely changed a little and Ted can't talk about it so he needs to watch his wording (and think about what he can/can't say), which is different than past interviews.

Taken in April, just before NAB...

Must have been a pretty awesome day, Scarlet, 'copter ride... although that dessert with whipped cream on top looks pretty lackluster to me! :)

@kyle - those are some good picture of the mini prime and interchangable scarlet, but I don't think those where functional cameras TED was showing why back then.

Right, but at the time it was four months from release, so there must have been a prototype somewhere. In fact Izzy was shot with Scarlet Interchangeable and a RPP.

I posted this on my Twitter last week, but I don't remember anyone else posting about this here on REDuser like they did on ScarletUser...

First pic is to show off to scale, how small the C-SCARLET (Cinema Scarlet AKA Interchangeable Scarlet)

Second one is to show a bit more detail of the "ELECTRON" rig that Element Technica is building for the Scarlet...

Ketch - thanks for the pics - that photo of Scarlet inspires my lust anew!!!

Also, slightly more recent than the pictures in San Francisco, Jarred had me roam around with some others, shooting the floors of NAB with a Scarlet.

Interesting, so Ted stated way back in 2010 that there will be a 5K Scarlet. I had missed this. Perhaps this is what we'll see in November.
Everything Red just keeps getting better and better.

I know it can be a little confusing and you have to keep up with the latest news to be correct about the projections which RED has for their prouducts. This is one of the reasons RED has taken a position of not speaking too much about a product until it's nearer to release.

There has been a big change in the "5K Scarlet".

Take a read up on this to get a brief look at the change... http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?53580-EPIC-S-(old-Scarlet-S35)-update...

I hope the fixed doesn't go away. Seems like a great no-fuss cam. As much as I like being able to swap lenses, there are situations where I just want a high quality zoom. Ted's comment could be taken in so many different ways, but the plain reading is probably the correct reading which is "The tragedy in Japan caused a delay in our products including the Scarlet as many of the parts for the lens system were sourced from Japanese plants that were destroyed. Because of the problems that delays cause, we will simply announce products when they are locked down and ready to ship."
