I guess I’m trying out ideas for a HUD that reconfigures it’s self, and only shows pertinent info when needed.

Audio levels

Audio level meters either side of the ‘safe frame.’

Horizon indication
‘Level to horizon’ function would flash top and bottom horizontal lines. Useful for hand-held or if I had the camera bolted to a monopod.
Ricoh have a new stills camera which has a ‘level’ indicator so this isn’t a new idea.

Battery level

Battery level would only show when there was a level change. For instance, 80% to 70%.
The user would be more likely to notice the battery indicator if it dynamically flicks on/off, as our peripheral vision would flag the appearance of the indicator, we would read it, and it would remove it’s self after a couple of seconds. The indicator gets bigger as the juice is diminished, and changes colour to red (or reverses) at its largest (LOWEST CHARGE LEVEL) size.

Footage indication
A ‘Time remaining’ counter based on storage available would always show.
Numbers would display as reversed when a ‘user set’ limit is reached such as thirty seconds of storage remaining. This number could also dynamically scale up in size to draw attention to diminishing storage capacity.
‘Seconds taken’ indicator would flash up when recording is triggered.

Metadata notes
Notes for clips can be entered via the wifi connection from laptop or cell phone and these appear along the bottom of the display for review in the field.
