Just checked out the site:

"*—* No power, software bugs so the camera is safe"

Are you implying that electronic mounts will ruin the camera? I mean Red is going to have their own electronic mount will that not be "safe".
Seems like weird wording or something.

I believe this is a reference to the Birger electronic Canon mount, which eventually was disqualified by RED as an approved upgrade to the R1 and had R1 owners risking their warranty and upgrade path to the Epic Stage offers. The Optitek is a "dumb mount," which has been approved by RED, so most probably can do no damage to camera electronics.

Yikes! (I'm forced to imagine the damage to the sensor, as I can't see your posted image, Stephen.) This is the very reason that I adopted the Jay Kelley toy balloon protective maneuver when changing mounts, even though I've been asked by more than a few what a package of toy balloons is doing in my R1 accessory case.

David,

It's a "Dumb Mount" as bill implied.

Not sure where you RED that electronic mounts will ruin the camera in the post. That must be your own conclusion.

You mean, of course, the Douglas Underdahl Long Valley Equipment red balloon gate protection procedure:
