  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Ti Canon Mount (Prototype) Footage...

In my experience, the flare ha been quite controllable so far.

How have you controlled it? When you pan off of a direct source in the frame, it flares. So you're shooting a car approaching at night with headlights on. As the headlights leave the frame, BAM! Streak flare. This clip is a perfect demo of the streak flare problem.

How many times do you face this situation in a feature? All the time.

I've made the issue largely go away by the use of matte-black adhesive-backed "foam" (1 or 2 mm thick) cut and applied to the OLPF mount area.
Other materials would do the same, and probably better (adhesive flock).
But...
Red could basically make the issue go away completely, by just changing the material and texture of the OLPF mount ( and ideally, tweaking the design of the mount as well).

Wow that's quite ingenious for the streak flare problem. Thanks! But yes, it would be great and convenient if Red resolved it in the new cameras.

YUP. Red needs to FIX the streak flaring. It SUCKS. But they are ignoring everyone. Why??

If any, Red should listen to Mark Pedersen! I trust they'll come up with a solution soon, as it looks not that big of a problem to solve.
