Just wondering if anyone has tried the Red B4-PL mount adapter on an epic @ 2k?

We use B4 mount lenses for a lot of slow motion sports coverage - Red One 2k 2:1 - works great and is familiar to sports shooters

the Red Store shows it as not compatible, but it seems like it should work (just not full coverage) unless the adapter does not physically fit due to depth?

with epics shipping, I want to make sure we can still use those lenses.

thanks

Hi Rick,

I have the RED adapter and am testing my Fuji B4 lenses on my new Epic at the moment. Have to say that the adapter works fine, and this seems to be a great way to cover the 2k format without the cropping of S35 lenses.

Like some others though, I am finding the 2k mode to be a bit noisy at the moment.

Cheers,

Chris

thanks chris.

Good to know it physically works.

hopefully the 2k noise will improve - I'm looking forward to evaluating it myself. (as that would mean i've got an epic in my hands.....)

We also tested our HDx Optical Adapters on the EPIC to be sure they were fully compatible. The HDx2 allows B4 lenses to fully cover all 3K formats and some 4K formats (depending on individual B4 lens). The HDx35 allows B4 lenses to fully cover all 4K formats and some 5K formats (again, depending on individual lens). The HDx Optical Adapters also work great on the RED One & RED One MX.
