  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet "II" - For those of us in the dark.

Scarlet will have to compete with the new s35 camera from canon set to be released later this year. 4k for around 15k. had red released the scarlet when they said they would it would have dominated the market but now it will just be another decent camera. the more serious dslr users will migrate to the canon for obvious reasons. and before yall start yelling about RAW very, very few need it. a flavor of pro res is suitable for 99% of projects around here. the workflow issues are just too great for RAW right now.
4k for 15K from Canon? Not that it is entirely relevant but where did you see this? I can see it being a good deal but thats a good chunk of change still. I'd be interested to find out more. If Scarlet fixed, does indeed upgrade to 4K and come in well under that for the Body it will still hold it's place and win out i'd imagine... 15K for a body, if that is the case is more competitive with the Epic S if it still happens.

Unless someone knows differently, this is just a rumor so far.

OK guys, as you can probably tell from all the recent threads November 3rd is the official announcement date of tgd Scarlet, and taking orders, and maybe shipping by the sounds of it.:willy_nilly::thumbup1: Forgive the unusual burst of enthusiasm, but this is really good news after all this time. :coolgleamA:

Not only that but apparently it is going to be revised in some beneficial way. Could it be higher resolution, I certainly hope so, I don't care if 4k does not interpolate into 4k resolution. Could it have a professional version of red ray built in (10 bit higher bitrate), I definitely hope so, it would be a great low bit rate format for ENG work and under, and there is a fair bit of horsepower under it's hood. Could it have less models, or swap one for FF35, possible. Could it be 3k for $2k, that should be possible to do.
