I imported an EDL from Vegas to REDCINE-X PRO and did the first light successfully but after I exported the final sequence I realized that the clip durations didn't much those from the cut. RC-X PRO added one more frame to every clip!

Is there a solution to this???

Thanks for any help.

Miltos,

In the Import preferences, theres a "TimeCode" section where you can select "Inclusive" or "Exclusive". Try switching that from one to the other and reimporting and see if your issue goes away.

Are all of your EDL imports coming from the same source (Vegas)? The reasoning for the "Inclusive" vs "Exclusive" option on the EDL import is that different programs can create different EDLs. Example, you have 2 different programs that are exporting a timecode range from (say 00:01:12.00 to 00:15:31.24). One program exports the timecode as "Inclusive" where frame 00:15:31.24 will be included in the export. Another program may export as "Exclusive" and have every frame up to, but not including 00:15:31.24.

Hope this helps,

- Grant

Also, what EDL type? EDL specification is to have the OUT or END always be +1 and is sometimes referred to as an inside/outside format. Cutlists used in film are inclusive and are referred to as inside/inside counts. CMX is definitely an inside/outside format, and frankly I can't think of any EDL format that uses inside/inside. It was just what was expected from the linear controllers and tape decks. Which begs the questions of why EDL's are still a method for transporting metadata...

Yes all my EDLs are coming from Sony Vegas.

No matter what I choose in the options (inclusive or exclusive) the frames are wrong. In the first case one frame is added at the end of most of the clips (NOTE: "most") and in the other case some clips are correct and some are missing frames.

The question now is: Is there something wrong with the way Vegas exports the EDL? Is it RC-X pro? What is it?

Miltos,

Can you send your EDL and a verbose log file to redcinex at red dot com please? Also can you try importing the same EDL into build 501 and let me know the result? Also are you importing to Active Bin or Timeline?

Cheers,
David

I will you send it to you when possible. I am in crunch time now trying to be on time with a deadline.

What I can tell you though is that I can ONLY import to the active bin. When I select 'import to timeline' nothing happens.
