Hey guys. New to the reduser forum and sorry if this has already been answered or is just plain obvious, but how would I get an Epic on a shoulder mount? Can I take off the LCD? If I do can I change all settings through the buttons on camera?
Also is that first ring on the evf for the cameras focus or the evf's focus? Thanks. Love RED!

Not sure if you're asking this, but I have always wondered why no one has made a shoulder mount that slides in the DSMC Quickrelease Dovetail?

I find that it lends itself to the design of the Epic so that you can adjust the would-be shoulder mount back and forth sliding where you'd slide the dovetail plate.

Odd. Maybe I'm just being naive.

However, I think that'd be really nice to have that and then throw two handles on the front of the rods and you're in a handheld configuration.

Maybe just me.

If you put the epic on a shoulder mount set up wouldn't the LCD be too high? Therefore you would probably use the EVF. My question was if I was just using the EVF, do I still have full control of the camera with the physical buttons of the Epic?

With the side handle or redmote, yes.

The Mantis for ET has a dove tail built in. Slide Epic off the Dove tail on the tripod ( if you have the quick release platform package ) and slide onto Mantis. I'm sure other hand held rig are similar, and of course there is the "Clutch".

Well, what I was actually thinking is this.

I wasn't thinking of what Axel posted above but I was thinking of something like what Mark is talking about. You know the Long Dovetail Chesseplate? (http://www.red.com/store/rail-components/product/dovetail-mounting-plate-long-2)

Like something like that but with a shoulder padding on it.

You throw two Red handles on the 19mm rods and you have a handheld rig.

In terms of the LCD being too high, what I would do is use a universal mount combine with an Easy Stick from Wooden Camera and throw the LCD on that cheese so it'd hang right in front of you.

What I really like about the shoulder mount living on the bottom of the DSMC Quickrelease is the ease of adjusting it back and forth with the design that Red has already done. Whereas instead of shifting the dovetail mounting plate back and forth to balance the camera on a tripod, we use it to adjust how it sits on your shoulder. That's something I feel that the shoulder mount that Axel was referring to can't do. Also, you need absolutely no screws at all to mount this shoulder mount, it'd just slide in there.

No? I might be wrong it might not be practical at all, but it seems like something quite easy to manufacture, no?
