The option of exporting a FCP-xml is both in the old RCX and the new REDCINE-X PRO. However, the pro version also include the option Send to FCP. I have tried to export with either or both of these boxes checked but nothing opens up in FCP 7.03 and no XLMs are created. I couldn't make the old RCX (built 487 or earlier) export XMLs either. Is it a coming feature that hasn't been properly activated yet or are there procedures that I am not aware of? It would be great if it worked!!! By the way, importing XMLs is working well in both the old and the PRO RCX.

Right now that option only applies to exports with a Project or Timeline (unique clips) target, or alternatively, all Quicktime Wrapper and R3D Trim exports. So for Quicktime exports I would suggest using the new Project target in the drop down next to the Export button -- that will generate a FCPXML of your entire project (all bins, clips, and sequences) when the "Generate FCP xml" option is checked.

Hi Carl,

FCP has to be open for Send to FCP to work. Also, in 487 XML will only with with Timeline (Separate Clips) exports. In RCX PRO, you also get XML's with Project exports.

So with the FCP round trip Is FCP 7 applying active metadata created in RC Pro or does it need to render out a new media file to which FCP can then link ?

So is there a written work flow using Red Cine x Pro to roundtrip to FinalCut? I can go from FinalCut to red cine fine via XML, but trying to get the renders back to FinalCut is the issues. Does it work now? Or do I still need third party scripts to make it work?
