Does anyone make a simple v-lock plate for the Epic? I've seen ones for the Red One, like the quickplate, but those need the cable adapter. Are there Epic specific ones out yet? So far all I've seen is the Backpack one, and I'm not interested in that.

IDX makes a wide range of V-lock plates with various outputs (d-tap and hard wired, and switchable voltages).

D-tap is a really flexible way to distribute power from the battery to different AKS.

You can get a D-tap to XLR connector, and then go with the XLR to lemo cable from RED.

RED also has a 4-PIN 00 Lemo-to-flying lead cable. I would like to know if that can be wired to a IDX plate.

Anyone more electrically aware than me on that one?

Mark... That Lemo 00 flying lead cable is for the trigger port. The size is smaller than it appears.

Hey Curt,

Thanks. I wasn't sure. Would the D-tap to XLR be the best route then coming off the plate, then using the RED XLR to LEMO?

You can always have someone replace a RED One power lemo with an Epic Lemo. The Epic lemo itself is hard to get, so I just bought an extra 2b to 1b cable and had it wired to my plate. The extra cost is SO worth not having all that extra cable hanging around the back. For gold mount users Anton Bauer is releasing an Epic plate in a few weeks.

That sounds like a cleaner solution.

How long is the cable?

Do you know how it is wired?

I'm not at my shop, but I figure a 2b to 1B is about a foot long not counting the connector. My ET Speedy clamp battery plate mounts at the back off a 19mm rod so its a good length for me.
David Hable at Cramped Attic Technology is modifying a number of plates for me.

I was told that Switronix will have an Epic battery plate soon, and as Jeff mentioned AB will have a plate as well. I'm hoping Red makes one available but my rep was unable to verify if or when that might happen.

The best solution is the Element Technica (IDX) Plate + ET cable. This is a flexible battery plate w/ robust connections. It also does NOT have an integrated cable, rather it has a LEMO port, then you buy the cable separately. They make one for Red One and one for Epic. It eliminates the need for the cumbersome Red 2b to 1B adapter cable.

Hey Greg, that looks like a good solution for many. Not for me as I use Gold Mount batteries. Also, since my plate hangs just behind the REDMote, I would be concerned that the lemo connectors on the plate could damage it. At 20" the cable is also too long for my current set-up. Having a lemo on the plate is certainly a nice feature, though. Thanks for posting. Love ET stuff.

Hey Jarek,

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but this is our solution to the V-lock plate for Epic. Please take note: all products that are silver were prototypes that had not yet been anodized black yet to match the Epic. All Epic accessories will be anodized black. The V-lock/Anton Bauer power distributor is not available, but will be soon. Please check our Epic accessories thread for updates.

Also, here's a list of other Epic accessories we offer, check them out:

I sure wish RED would bring back the $175 RED battery plate back to the RED store - I prefer my RED bricks to REDVolts for many applications -

Yes, and with a direct dsmc connector. It's a pain to have that big clunky 2b-1b connector flopping around. It bothers me that I'm looking at using Anton for our u/w housings (and maybe 3D rig) simply because they are the only ones with a reasonable setup.

I don't mind the 2b-1b cable too much. I just tie it off - in fact, I bought a 2nd cable because I'm a little worried about RED's ongoing support of RED bricks and have many bricks that I would like to continue using with my EPIC. But I worry that they will phase out brick support once the Quad charger is in widespread use. But really for those of us looking to minimize weight and maximize run time, the bricks are a solid option - plus, I already own quite a few of them.

Jim has said that the RED ONE will be supported like a Queen  - but the Queen could sure use her battery plate back! My EPIC would like it, too.
