RED knock off camera

Not really a knock off at all...
Its 2K, its for the masses, its ugly as hell but at least the balls rolling towards the 2K and beyond range and the prices are trying to be dropped to Prosumer levels...

It's good for everyone! Especially RED!
As long as peoples marketing starts with the 2K and RED says they have 9K...it's all good!

But it is the ugliest thing ever...

You don't look at the mantelpiece when you're stoking the fire - but it does help if its a nice marble one.

Wonder how long this thread will stay in existence...probably not too long...

May want to take it over to DVXuser - the forum for non-RED cameras. Here's the thread there.

But it does underscore how much RED has changed the industry. So far every article I've read about this camera in some way says "RED Killer", and someone (or someoneS) in the comments mentions the fact it only shoots 2K, which appears to them a pittance.

HD is becoming unacceptable as an acquisition format.

Sorry, I'll move the thread if its a problem. just saw it to be RED related. GO RED !

I certainly understand, and that's a call for the mods to make...I understand the dilemma as well, as it does relate!

Looks like a scam.

"...Kinefinity and beyond" with a trademark. Yeah I'm sure buzz lightyear is the CEO too.

:)

Super8mm Sized CMOS Sensor: Various Record Format as 2.5K, 2K, HD. WTF?

I dont see how this is good for RED... to be honest I and many others would take 2k or even 1080p .dng cam over .R3D in 3k... because of measured res the scarlet and this cam will have close to the same res. but this cam is s35 and actually RAW, and it uses any SSD they just happen to have a proprietary card... im excited for thisd camer... dont care how pretty it is or isnt... if its on my shoulder and making RAW dng at 24p I dont care... my eyes will be in the monitor

I agree with Perry, who cares what it looks like as long as it works. Once it's in the wild it will be judged on it's merits and if it offers what it says it offers then more power to them. Technology is about progress and I for one am happy that there are people at least trying to compete and bring the costs of high quality digital acquisition down. Maybe it is a scam, but there were many people saying the same thing about RED. Let's wait and see.

This is great news and possibly a game changer! In terms of the s16 model of the kineraw, CCD 2/3 sensor w/ no rolling shutter to uncompressed raw in DNG format for only 4 grand w/ interchangeable lens mounts. The Ikonoskop A-Cam DII got this right in the design of their camera, however their price seemed a tad bit too much IMO, especially when they suddenly decided to sell all the accessories that were originally bundled with their camera...separately making total cost go from 10 grand to around 14 (shock!!! :( ). Glad there is more competition now for more than half the price of that Swedish unit. 4 grand is a lot better than 14 for basically the same specs. Can't wait!

Anyone seen sample footage from the camera?
