I tried desperately to find the answer on my own because I know its going to be something easy and make me look like a dope!

What I have:
Red Rocket CARD
8 core MACPRO
2 DVI monitors

Ok, installed RedRocket
Computer sees it just like in the instructions
I just have no clue how to hook my cables into it? When I use the splitter I get NADA.
I only get picture through my old video card..
I read this but have no idea how to? (in rocketcine click on the rocket symbol on the lower right side of the viewing window...
there select 1920x1200 for activating the dvi ports....)
WTF is rocketCINE?

Thanks for the help guys..

Hi Justin,

I'd :

Step 1: delete rocketcine - that's old soft.
Step 2: Download the latest redcine X if you have not already done so
Step 3: Make Sure you have your latest rocket driver installed
Step 4. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed
Step 5. Start Redcine X and load some clips in

the next part depends on what you want to do - do you just want to view or transcode?

Either way RedCine X will drive the card to do what you need. Hope that helps!

Dan

Hooked it up with an SDI monitor and it works, but still can't figure out with DVI?

Justin, the DVI Monitors stay at your graphic card. The rocket connectors with the adaptors are for the break out box only.

Thank you!

Is there any way to use the sdi to monitor in FCP? or is it exclusively for RCX?

Redcine X only as far as I know. i'm not sure about Storm since I'm not using it. I work with transcodes in FCP anyways and switch over to Scratch 6 after editing for the grading.

I guess it's a waste of a good card to do that anyway.. I was so fuc@ing amazed when I did a full debayer, 4444 transcode in a bit faster than realtime!! Then tried the same with the RR off just to make sure i wasn't seeing things and it was 15x as long!! Wow, I love when something works......

I'm confused, so you can ONLY use an SDI monitor for realtime playback? What if I want to start grading in RCX, and see what I did playing back realtime on an apple cinema display? is this not possible?

I've never used the DVI's coming out of the card... I disconnected them. I think they are more towards using for the RED breakout box.
I grade from my Apple cinema displays... But then again, I don't really use RCX to grade from, maybe check a few shots... but I only use it to transcode my REDLOGFILM PRO RES files in real time mostly...
I use resolve to grade or FCP & Saphire.

I use the KISS method.. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID... :)))))))

Plug your external monitor into the RR to DVI cable, in RCX on the bottom right of the viewer click on the rocket button, check "use for decoding" and "use for video out" then click on the "video out setup.." button, Make sure (for apple 23" display) that you have "Resolution" set to 1920x1200 and the "display" menu set to "DVI-HDMI". Click OK then OK then hit the "RED ROCKET Monitor Out" button in the bottom right of the viewer and your image should show up on the external display.

dvi ports w/the breakout cable can be used the same as the sdi ports .

Thanks Deanan,
I knew they had to be.. I think my issue wasi got a black screen and was expecting it to rollover to my desktop screen and not just a monitor out.. But this really kicks ass because I can use an apple cinema display to view footage/start grading with now.. SWEET!

Deanan, I'm sure it says it somewhere in the RED ROCKET instructions, but it seems unclear.. I'm not a dumb person, but I love pictures.. Kinda like Ikea instructions..
