  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Remote Power

If AC power is nearby, that's what I plan to use. Otherwise, Red Team suggests you have a custom cable made.

Why not just mount the battery on the camera and change it out once in a while?

I need to power the Red on a boom - need about 15' cable.

Are there Male to Female extensions for the Red brick?

Other options?

you can get the cables made fairly easy, the pinouts and part numbers are in the manual.

But how do you start/stop recording? Is there a RED remote? Excuse my ignorance on the topic, but I was thinking what would happen if you shoot on a 12feet jib??? You could put all the gear there but how do you record or even check what you just shot?

The viewfactor remote looks awesome, but it isn't shipping yet.

Until we get it, I built a nice 50 foot remote using surplus store parts, the Lemo part number from the manual and shielded telephone cable.

Keep in mind that the voltage drop over 15' at 13-14v will be significant without pretty chunky cable, build accordingly.

Thanks guys!
Just ordered the Origo. It looks really nice. (at least the render does)
I wont need it tomorrow so I hope its worth the wait.
I think that maybe its a little expensive 100 bucks for 30ft of cable, but it looks nicely done. I'll post my review when I get it. Thanks for the input.

The Impero also allows for remote start/stop so if you are ordering one of those you don't need the Origo as far as I can see. Only thing I don't know is if the Impero also has a tally sound.
