This was a really fun shoot I was lucky enough to DP. Was shot on 2 Epics, 1 Phantom, 1 Cineflex, 1 5D, multiple Countour POV cameras. Great crew and the talent was so happy all day long! How could he not be.

Great! Love the 360s in the heli! I kinda like that I forgot I was watching for RED footage and was just enjoying it.. But amazing how soft and mushy the 5D footage is (like a water color painting) I never noticed it as much as now while intercut with cinerflex and EPiC footage..

Awesome Mike! So cool. Proud that my epic was on this show!

Awesome job Mike!

Yeah Eric! Your Epic did not miss a beat. Milan was hyped on using it.
Thanks man.

Indeed, thanks for letting your baby go Eric and sorry about the EVF f-up. Loved the camera.

Had a GREAT time working on this shoot.
It was a mellow and fun affair, the entire crew was spot on.

Thank you for the opportunity Mike, it was great working with you and thanks to Red Bull for making it all happen.
Last but not least thanks to 1stAC Scott Beckley for always being one step ahead of me. Stoked!

Amazing!

Last week I was in Hangar 7 that is a home base of Red Bull at Airport Salzburg in Austria.

Simultaneously there is at the same place Red Bull Museum with The Flaying Bulls and Racing Cars and also an excellent restaurant Ikarus, one of the best in Austria.

After watching Red Bull exhibition, then eating and drinking an excellent wine from Croatia at Ikarus restaurant I have got an idea maybe to do something there with Epic in a near future...

Stay tuned.

Nice job colour balancing all the cameras. That might have been a nightmare, I imagine.

The piece had a super glossy look which worked beautifully for race cars, helicopters & movie stars! I think it will certainly attract interest back to F1 in the US for anyone who sees it; your clients must have been thrilled. As a pilot who loves F1, it made me want to jump off a bridge, though (jealousy!)

Ok, just because I watch a lot of this type of thing I'll be the dissenting voice...

Some cool shots for sure, but for me the piece is let down by mediocre editing and a lack of direction which makes it feel like a behind the scenes piece rather than a main feature.

Also, the skin tones in David Coulthard's interview look wrong. Was that shot on the 5D?

I'm sure you had a riot making it and you captured some amazing footage, but to me this edit is less than the some of its parts.

B-25's are fun! I had buddies back in the 80's that had several WWII aircraft. A B-25, TBM, Mustang and several trainers.
I use to fly with them recording with 3/4" equipment. Shooting from the nose of a B-25 flying
30 feet of the deck at 200 MPH is pretty hairy. To bad we did not have Epic back then!!!

Liam good assesment. This is not a main feature. It is intended to feel like a behind the scenes piece. TC was not even wearing a mic. It was trying to capture his day without directing him or any of the people on camera. I think he gets enough of that in his real job. Also the edit is more along those lines as well. DC interview shot on Epic. Did not do the CC on it but I can tell you he was really sunburned. That could have looked better IMHO as well. Just wait till the piece we shot in Austin drops mid September. It will have a way different feel.
Cheers
