For the past couple of weeks, I have been unable to view any of my Epic footage in RCX. I can only see thumbnails, but when I load the footage into the RCX player, I see nothing but black. This screenshot is from within RCX 487. None of the previous RCX versions on my PC work either.

This is a Windows Vista PC laptop.

Firmware version: 1.16.18

Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks!

I tried fooling around with the RGB and other metadata values, but that did not change anything.

David, this laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 card. It's a crummy laptop, but has always seemed able to at least load Epic footage in the past.

I have had some similar issues with an ATI radeon 3470 card in my Toshiba laptop. RCX up to 356e was fine. Versions 454 onward can't display video or display bad video in the player window, but thumbnails are OK.

Well are there any earlier versions of RCX that will work with my card but also display Epic footage from such a recent Epic build?

Hi Tom,

That card should be more than capable. We have had issues with ATI drivers in the past. Can you make sure you have the very latest driver installed?

Is Red One footage also failing to load into the viewer?

Failing that, enable verbose logging and send a log file to redcinex at red dot com.

Okay, great! updating the driver from the ATI site solved the problem. it's working now. thanks!
