We received our Epic M #301 a few weeks back. Just fitted an russian OCT19 mount made by my Steve Morton and Chris Pierson at cinemods.com

Chris Pierson is now making Leica M and R mounts for the Epic too

Doubt they're approved, or we'd have heard about it before now. That said it's hardly surprising to see third party mounts cropping up when the mounting base plate appears to be child's play design-wise. Of course appearances can be deceptive and there's more to a mount than just the mechanical attachment.

Steve has been around for a long time and the work that he's done that I"ve seen is very nice.

nope.. never seen it... not approved.

No offense Tim, but bad idea to post before know about approval ... basically saying "hey! void my warranty!"

Hopefully it's not a big deal, doesn't damage anything and works out for you. Red is understandably strict with such things ... approval is
critical for quality control and maintaining the warranty system efficiently.

I would urge the manufacturer to apply for approval asap and hope for the best :)

P.S. -- Mounts for the Leica R and M system? Whoa!!! Awesome news! Please urge him to go through Red, as that would be AWESOME
and I'd hate to see that work done to no avail. Red has expressed some interest in creating a smart mount for Leica S lenses also, however it seems
the main problem with that is just that S lenses have such a small customer base and are very pricey. But perhaps a dumb mount for the S system
would be nice in the meantime, until a year or so when S lenses have more customers.

i used these mounts before, it's abit scary that the tension ring , does not have a stopper. So you can over screw the tension ring . Wonder if they fixed this issue.
