Epic 1.6.24 audio issue

Hello,

I've never been too lucky with audio recording on the Epic-M. I thought I probably didn't have proper microphone so I got the A-box. With a Marshall microphone with battery power, the audio VU showing proper signal on the screen, but when I play the footage back on PP5.5 or REDCINE-X, it only playback white noise.
Is there any secret to make the audio work ?

PP 5.5 I found out it is not supporting the Epic audio decoding and REDCINE-X is not playing back audio but it does convert the audio.

So I guess I would have to convert the footage with RCX to create offline clips with audio.

This is correct, the only current method to use Epic audio is via RCX. It works great btw

Make sure you're on a recent RCX like 487.

I had the same problem... How do you convert the audio in Redcine X?

I exported a QT Prores file and still only white noise.

It was with an earlier version of RCX. I was on the field, didn't had access to the latest.

Gotta use the latest. I just converted bunch using 487 and Red Rocket, audio was fine.

yeah, you should have audio playback.

Hey guys, brace yourself for a dumb question.. Why do I only see RCX version 454 on RED's support site.. Am I missing something? Where can I get 487

Ok....Version 1.6.24---but HOW do i enable audio....i go into settings and audio/video---but is there a phantom power setting some place? i'm also using the A-box and Rhode mic....and i do not get audio AT ALL....

No phantom power right now. Itching for it to be enabled myself...

Ok....so therefore no phantom power no audio unless you have a powered mic....too bad.

Effectively. I'm currently recording sound on a Zoom H4N - I'm used to the simple but reliable phantom powered sound on my Red One and the sooner this changes the better

To back up a bit... I am now using RCX build 487, did a test and now have audio. This is great, but... Is there a way to export audio only? I already rendered out severeal days footage with the "latest" version from the RED website, v454 (really??? the actual site for the company is 3 builds behind???) ... no audio. IS there a way to export only the audio and sync up in FCP? Or do I have to re-render all of the footage again. Any help would be appreciated.

Set up an export preset using BWF and you'll get nice wav files ready to go
