Rumor has it that 3/4 of Christopher Nolan's conclusion to his epic Batman saga will be shot using 15/65mm IMAX cameras.... thoughts?

I'm excited, not only for the film, but simply because of this huge use of IMAX camera technology.

I'm just happy he's not going 3D. After a run of seeing 3D films at the theater, I recently saw a couple in "good ol" 2D, and man it was a great feeling. 2D still "feels" better and let's me get more immersed in a good film over anything 3D I've seen.

Real directors destroy cameras... it happens! :)

Of all the production photos I have seen they have all been with an IMAX camera so far... I just hope that if they do decide to switch to anamorphic for some scenes that the whole scene is shot in anamorphic, or at least the aspect ratio stays the same as native IMAX. The start of the original dark knight was fine because they either shot in IMAX or they shot in anamorphic however when it got to the scene where Bruce Wayne smashed the lambo I really noticed the format change as they cut between the two in the same scene.

He he, but this was the girl, on a bike ha ha, but yeah the director's fault for having her so close... ;)

Rental houses expect this on high-budget films. Actually, the larger the film, the more likely it is something will get damaged because there's more of a "Screw it, we got the money" attitude; whereas on indie stuff they don't have that luxury and are more careful.

They also destroyed an Imax camera on Dark Knight. I guess if you want to do things right, you gotta break some eggs ;) In Nolan I trust!

I'm also looking forward to seeing this in good 'ol 2D. Nothing wrong with that! ;)

And IMAX audience will enjoy noticeable pixel grid of a 2K projection.

there was a interview with wall pfister about his take on digital. as of now he still doesn't believe that digital is a medium he'd trust for acquisition. and I can only assume Chris Nolan is on the same page. Maybe someone at RED can change their minds soon :)

and for the record, i don't blame him. if you can make it work for budget, film is still a great looking acquisition medium.

he'll have a tough time 10 years from now shooting on film, since there won't be any established infrastructure left. but for now, he can do what he likes. more power to him i say. guy makes good movies.
