  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My shy little cousin attended the first ever Camp RED. I was concerned she might not get as much out of it as possible, since she is not outgoing, and can easily fade into the background.

Boy was I surprised, she said the staff made her feel at home, literally... she tried to show me where Billy Jean was shot, the glowing stairs, I told her, "Billy Jean was shot here!!!" I didn't know that, as much as I wanted to see the glowing staircase, I told her I appreciated her enthusiasm, but I don't think I was allowed to go back there. I was stunned.

She was so happy. She now knows more 3D shooting and post than I did, I am happy for her, and slightly offended:) She is looking forward to the third week, that is the sleep over portion in Malibu. She has never had a sleep over in her life.

I've always thought of RED as my family. I dropped off my little cousin, and like any good family member, RED took excellent care of her. Thank you RED, for what she says was the second best week of her summer.

Come on RED... Second!!! You have to step up your game, next year when I bring my neices, I want to hear the BEST week of their summer.
 
i visited twice last week and it was truly amazing to see how engaged these young people were. hats off to ted and everyone for making the next great filmmakers of this world! trust me when i tell you someone in that group will win an oscar someday!
 
it's been really fun and rewarding on so many levels... we had our first Camp RED 4k digital film festival on Friday night, and about twice as many people showed up as we planned for... we had to set up an extra bunch of seats and had to screen the 3D portion of the evening twice, since we didn't have enough 3D glasses and people had to share (and trust me the great team at Xpand loaned us a ton of 3D glasses for the event :-) Got great comments from the parents on how much their kids got out of the first week...

I'm working on a cut of a behind the scenes video of the first week of camp... got a lot of good shots of the kids working with the gear, wish I had more time to shoot more stuff, so didn't get all the kids - more to come this week, and we have a lot more behind the scenes footage to go through and edit - I'll post it on Vimeo when it's ready. We also have some good interviews shot by our team of the camp in action, we will get that out pretty soon too.
 
I'm having a great time with these kids and the RED staff-- Everyone has been amazing! Looking forward to week #3 in the BU!
