Interesting considering that there aren't many differences between this and the Vimeo Plus account, other than it being more exclusive and being able to organize your video files into different portfolios (ironically a request I suggested to them only a few months ago). We'll see how it does. I do think $199 is a bit steep considering it only allows 50GB of storage and 250,000 views...

"Vimeo PRO offers robust product features including exceptional video quality, customizable Portfolio websites, extensive video player customization, Video Review Pages, advanced statistics, social media sharing and broad privacy settings. "

Uh...50gbs of storage is less then what plus offers, plus is 5gb a week or 60 a year...Thats a downgrade to some extent, unless they plan on making Vimeo Plus with less features, then they are really making a mistake.

Any plus on the compression side?

Can't find any information regarding compression. The only upside I see to this and that I've been stressing for awhile now is how one can now organize videos into different portfolios, allowing content to be distributed per project. This was annoying in the past when working on more than one project at a time, uploading videos to Vimeo and having all your projects, rough cuts, etc. show up on the same video page.

This new portfolio organization will allow clients to watch rough cuts all on the same page with out having to search back and forth between vimeo pages.

It'd be neat if they offered 2k/3k/4k acquisition through through this format with superior compression technology. Maybe the plan on going there in the future?

I'd hardly say that is worth the extra $$ given there are so many ways (free) to share rough cuts....one would expect better quality; higher upload amounts and what else? I really like that you can organize the video in portfolio's for projects and client review, but that's just not a deal maker to ge me to drop $200.

i think this is geared more towards corporate or commercial play, that get a lot of hits and views every month. in that case, the simple option to keep buying more storage and plays is good. for everybody else...

That's exactly what it's for. I'm expecting to see Vimeo crack down on a lot of its members now, forcing them over to a Pro account if they're posting videos of a commercial or business-oriented nature. They have let a lot of this slide in the past, since they didn't want to turn content away, but had not yet set up a proper outlet for it. Music videos for pro recording artists, demo reels promoting a production company, etc.. look out.

Yep. I always wondered, as when I signed up originally there was a "Vimeo shall not be used for commercial purposes" clause in the EULA. Yet I've seen many examples of people using them for just that purpose - especially neat little ideas like creating a webisode series, locking it on Vimeo, but allowing views on an ad driven page elsewhere on the web.

This doesn't make sense? What if you have a video that "blows-up"? Are they going to force to you to pay for the extra views? That's not even in your control!

What if you get like 10 Millions views or something? They're going to send you a bill for $20 grand?
