  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

THE GREAT GATSBY - BAZ LUHRMANN + EPIC

We spent a lot of time with Baz... delightful guy and wicked smart/creative. We certainly don't discuss what was talked about and/or his plans and ideas. He gets to do that if he chooses. Needless to say... we were impressed with his concept.

I couldn't agree more, Brook. Simon is one of those guys I wish would shoot more often.

and let's not forget Leonardo'shelming the role played brilliantly by Redford in the original. About the only actor who could do this while RR is still alive.
I too am delighted to see a non-action based 3D movie... maybe, just maybe, I won't get a headache, regardless the original movie really affected me as a kid
with my dad in the movies. One of the most vivid memories I have of early cinema inspiration.

Great to hear but cmon, filming in Australia? I guess Long Island is too expensive.
 
omigosh!

I love Baz Luhrmann. I love Fitzgerald. I love the 20s - I can't wait to see what he does with such an iconic story and with an era that has so many remarkable paralllels to our own.

Cinema came of age in the 20s - maybe EPIC comes of age with this film.

(ok, maybe that is hyperbolic, but I'm a little excited - )

Australia was the pioneer of feature length narrative films, we are making a comeback and hope to beat the current world leaders...New Zealand

That's all well and good and good luck to you guys but I was suggesting Long Island because that is where the book took place and we have our share of movies filmed here.

It also helps he's got one of the best stereographers on his crew too!
 
Principal photography on The Great Gatsby started today.

Very proud and excited that OFFHOLLYWOOD's stereographer Alonso Homs was chosen for this film. It is going to be incredible!
